Disclaimer – I don't own any ideas in this poem, just the way the words are put together, if you could count even that
This is a poem by Galadriel informing Frodo and Bilbo of the Valar before they dock in Valinor
The Valar in Short
By Galadriel
Sulimo the greatest, he is surnamed
He lives high on a mountain above all he claims
But where are we going, dear lady the white?
My eyes are now darkened, I can't see the light
We go to the blessed realm, the shores are in sight
To Valinor where great Manwë reigns
Old Ulmo is king of the lords of the sea
With Uinen and Ossë, the ocean gods, three
But where are we going, dear lady the white?
My eyes are now darkened, I can't see the light
We go to the blessed realm, the shores are in sight
To Valinor, but old Ulmo roams free
Aulë is the smith, who builds mighty towns
He fashioned the dwarves, at which Eru frowned
But where are we going, dear lady the white?
My eyes are now darkened, I can't see the light
We go to the blessed realm, the shores are in sight
To Valinor, where his mansions are found
Oromë is the hunter who rides his white horses
His horn (Valaróma) sounds through the world's courses
But where are we going, dear lady the white?
My eyes are now darkened, I can't see the light
We go to the blessed realm, the shores are in sight
To Valinor, where Oromë stays his forces
Mandos is the king of the spirits retired
After their life, when the soul has expired
But where are we going, dear lady the white?
My eyes are now darkened, I can't see the light
We go to the blessed realm, the shores are in sight
To Valinor, where Mandos was sired
Brethren to Mandos is Lorien of dreams
He gives many visions, things aren't what they seem
But where are we going, dear Lady the white?
My eyes are now darkened, I can't see the light
We go to the blessed realm, the shores are in sight
To Valinor, where Lorien can be seen
Tulkas the strong blooms in physical powers
He humbles the mighty, by him Morgoth cowers
But where are we going, dear lady the white?
My eyes are now darkened, I can't see the light
We go to the blessed realm, the shores are in sight
To Valinor, to Tulkas' towers.
You may have realised by now that there are seven male 'great gods' or Valar. I have tried to illustrate the main idea of each one in each verse. I will put up a second chapter with poems about the Valier, the female great gods.
I have another poem also about the journey to Valinor, but in Bilbo's point of view. Have a look!
