Just a little ditty that came to me in an exam. A lot of story inspirations come to me in exams. Enjoy!

The Enterprise is Alive
Contrary to popular belief, the U.S.S. Enterprise is alive. She speaks to people, urging them in the right direction, but they rarely know it is her.
She tells Chekov the equation that would save her dear Captain and pilot from plummeting to their deaths.
She tells Sulu how to maneuver through the debris fields of her fallen brothers and sisters.
She tells McCoy to stand aside as her Captain was jettisoned to Delta Vega, knowing who he would find.
She tells Scotty to eject her core so they all will live.
She tells Uhura to give her Vulcan lover some time to cope with the loss of his planet.
She tells Spock to release his hold on her Captain, because she couldn't let him die.
She tells Kirk to come back to her, because she loves him.
They all have hurt, regrets, fears and losses. She hears them whisper into the darkness, thinking that no one can hear them. They're wrong. She can hear them, and she wants to help them. But how? When she speaks, they don't listen. To them, she's their Lady, their ship; but to her, they're family.
Chekov is her baby brother, the one she always looks out for.
Sulu is her outgoing best friend, the one she follows everywhere.
McCoy is her grumpy older brother, the one she loves for the good deeds he does.
Scotty is her father, the one who cares for her and gives her tune-ups when she's good.
Uhura is her sister and best friend, the one she shares her deepest secrets with.
Spock is her mentor, the one she looks up to and trusts unconditionally.
Kirk is her lover, the one she would tear the universe apart to find.
Sometimes she behaves and does what she's told. Sometimes she's temperamental, but so is every woman. And yet, through all the pain, all the arguments and misunderstandings, they're her crew - her family. She would gladly sacrifice herself so they may live. It's her job to keep them safe, to watch over them. As time passes, her love for them does not wane and she remains truly loyal as any ship would.
Most people don't understand her. To them, she's just a ship. A means of transportation. They don't see that she has life, that she has as much a soul as carbon-based life-forms do. It was born out of her bond with her crew.
The Admirals laugh at them. 'Your ship may be the newest of its line, but it still can't beat the integrity of the older models'. She'll show them. Because of Scotty, she can withstand more hits than any of the older models. Her Warp Core is the best in the whole universe, with so many modifications that it has very little of the original common Core. Her engine has had so many tune-ups that they can fly at Warp 8.5, where most other Constitution-class ships could only Warp at 8.
She's a ship of beauty and elegance. Her crew knows that, but they don't know of her soul. She always listens to them and offers advice, whispering in the innermost parts of their brain. When she does, they think that it was their idea and completely dismiss the fact that it was her.
It's much too difficult to tell them that she's alive. Better to let them bask in their ignorance while she remains alert.
