Everything Alone, Everything

I don't own Naruto
"You do everything alone, everything."
It was true. Naruto had always done everything by himself. He had to cook for himself, clean up after himself, and keep himself on track. He had learned to be independent and not rely on anyone for anything. He did everything alone, everything.
It was not all bad. It was a rather useful skill to not have to wait on others or have anyone to depend on. Naruto did not expect anyone to do anything for him and therefore had to learn how to do everything alone, everything.
It was not planned. No one had foreseen that Naruto would have to raise himself. Not the Yondaime who used him as a sacrifice, not the Sandaime who looked after him from time to time, and not the village who awaited his death on baited breathe. But he learned how to do everything alone, everything.
It was not intentional. He never wanted to be all by himself. To have no one to run to when he was in trouble, to have no one to call his precious person. He longed for the family he could never have and the acceptance that eluded him. Though an accident it did not change the fact that he still did everything alone, everything.
It was reality. The villagers barely spared Naruto a second glance. The only time he was ever acknowledged was when they tried to kill him. They tried repeatedly, practically routine, despite the illegality of their actions. They taught their children to berate and bully him. He had to defend himself from everything alone, everything.
It was survival. Naruto quickly discovered how his behavior affected those around him. As a child asking for help led to severe consequences. No one would have anything to do with him unless it was the chance to gain the title of the demon killer. For his own safety he did everything alone, everything.
It was unfortunate. Children should not have to do everything on their own. Despite the turbulence of the shinobi world it is expected that a kid can be a kid, if only for a short period of time. Naruto was forced to grow up and do everything alone, everything.
It was unfair. Naruto should not have had to grow up with no one but he did. What was truly unjust was that he was berated for a skill he was forced to learn to survive on his own. Kakashi was only trying to point out his flaw but doing things on his own was practically embedded in his DNA by this point. He did not know how to ask for help, how to rely on others. He guarded his trust knowing if he gave it away it would only be shattered. So he would continue to do everything alone, everything.
So I was watching episode 5 I think, the one where team 7 passes and I got all pissed off when Kakashi belittle Naruto because he does everything alone. This is an angry little drabble I put together in like ten minutes about how it's not Naruto's fault that he has learned to do everything alone. Reviews are always appriciated
