Prologue
Crimsonclaw smiled as her paw slammed into the golden pelt of the twin-tailed fox kit she had captured. Redpaw, the tabby's apprentice, extended one black nail and ran it across the white, velvet, trembling under-jaw, snickering with fangs peeking from sneering lips.
"Quite a catch, Crimsonclaw." the rust calico drawled in a soft, purring tone filled with feral delight.
The first part of that cat's name. Crimsonclaw.. It brought back bad memories to the young twin-tailed fox kit that had been captured by these two cats.
"Yes." the tan tabby warrior chuckled, licking black lips, "This little fox kit here shall make DarknessClan... A most promising ally. Once he is properly trained, that is..."
"Yes," Redpaw agreed, chucking low in his throat. "Who shall we give this cute little fox kit to once we're in the Clan, Crimsonclaw?"
"That is for our leader, Bloodstar, to pick who gets this cute little fox slave. Come on, let us take him back to the Clan where he'll be tortured til he learns to obey us!"
The two cats laughed and headed back into the forest, dragging the tiny fox kit with them.
