Disclaimer: Do not own Supernatural or the Winchester boys, as much as I want to. I also do not own the song "One Wing in the Fire" which belongs to Trent Tomlinson.
"Good Lord, just be with him, I know his Faith is tired, but he's an angel with no halo, and one wing in the fire. I know he lives a little left of living' right, and he's come close to goin' way to far a few times. But I'd trade a thousand prayers if just one prayer would come true: Lord, please believe in him, like I believe in you."
She slowly got off of the white sterile bed and gently lowered herself to her knees. Her strength had been slowly diminishing for months until, just two weeks previously, it had landed her in this hospital, North Mercy. No matter how weak she became, this was a habit she was inclined to practice, at least once a day, sometimes twice when something was very heavily laid on her heart.
"Dear Lord," she began, the same way she always did. "Thank you for the life you're given and the opportunities I've had. Help me to continue accepting what is to come, even if I don't understand to reason why. Thank you forgiving me these few extra days."
She sighed. The next part was always the most difficult to word. "Father God, she started. Another heave of breathe, and then⦠"I lift up to You Dean Winchester. You know where he is and what he needs. Please bless him and cover him with Your hand of protection. I don't know why, but I know he needs protecting.
"I know he's not perfect, Lord." She was pleading now. "I can tell he's messed up some, God, but we all have. And his intentions are good. He has a wonderful heart Lord, You know that. It's just hard for him to see the good in the world. I don't know what his history is like, but You do, God. You know what made him like this, You know how it'll hurt him or help him, and You know what can change him, what can pull him closer to You.
"That's what I ask God. I ask You to show him Your love. Give him strength and resilience, endurance, perseveranceā¦and courage. He's going to need a lot of that. Help his relationship with his brother to flourish; You know how important that is to him. Give him peace and relief. Please watch out for him."
She closed with an "amen" after thanking God for bring him into her life to begin with. Gently she pulled herself back onto the mattress as peace covered her in its warm blanket. She knew what that feeling was. Someone had been praying for her as well. It was a comforting thought.
And, she couldn't be sure, but she had a good feeling that it was her miracle himself doing the praying.
