Mokou lay on her back, hands held up to the sky. She grinned broadly as a cherry blossom's petal landed tenderly on her outstretched hand. With a delicate and careful touch her fingers enclosed on the speck of pink before she opened her hand again and watched it fly away in the breeze. For a moment she closed her eyes and when she reopened them, Keine stood above her, her long hair inches from Mokou's nose.
The immortal grinned and beckoned the were-hakutaku a little closer and propped herself up to press her lips against Keine's.
The blue-haired woman blushed faintly and cleared her throat, turning away slightly and allowing Mokou to carefully and gently reach up, pulling Keine down beside her. Mokou looked at the girl she loved, pink petals entagled in the light blue hair of her lover and tears fell from her eyes, dripping onto Keine's cheeks and rolling off the porcelain skin. The immortal closed her eyes tightly and pressed her forehead against the half-youkai's. There would be a future without Keine and she couldn't accept it. It was painful to think about.
The teacher reached up and cupped Mokou's cheek, her slender fingers brushing away the salty tears. "I love you, Fujiwara no Mokou."
The white-haired immortal gathered the courage to open her eyes and smiled gently. Keine was crying too. She reached up and cradled the soft hand that wiped away her tears. It was warm. The phoenix leant into that warmth and took a deep breath.
Mokou once again closed her eyes and, when she opened them, she lay on her back, hands held out towards the sky.
