Author Notes: Have you ever had late-night ideas? Well this is one of mines. Extremely short, but to the point. It simple started out with the thought of tripping and falling down. I wasn't even thinking about writing a Sailor Moon story, but before I knew it words were coming out of my head and onto the computer screen.

I hope you enjoy this little moment with Usagi, and my first time ever posting on the Sailor Moon section of FFN

My Burning Duty

She fell forward,

Tripping over air,

Over lack of sleep,

Over responsibility.

Arms flaying around her, her hands just managing to break her fall.

The burn.

On the sidewalk, she sits, fighting back the tears.

She couldn't stand the burn of torn away skin,

The blaze from the reddish skin,

The broken palm of bleeding agony,

The yell of her friends,

The battles with enemies,

The burden on her soul,

The responsibility.

Escalating, escalating, more and more.

Her breath quickens harshly, as she stares at her hand, oblivious to the rest of the world passing by her; pretending they do not see an odd-haired, odd-girl cradling her hand to her chest.

They were too busy to care about her.

Too busy to wonder who she was.

Too busy to think about anything but their own meaningless lives.

They moved on.

The stingy pain slowly moved on too.

The girl stood up and brushed off the dirt from her skirt, and

Skipped away, back into the landscape of skyscrapers and hustling people.

Was humanity even worth the burning pain?
