Chapter 1: Finding His Witch
"Sad attempt at iron welding . . ." Kai mumbled to himself looking at the destroyed ascendant that Elena gave to him.
Said vampiress rolled her eyes. "I tried to fix it."
No sooner t he words left her mouth, a metal cog fell to the floor. He shook his head looking at Damon leaning against the door. "I can't bring Bonnie back with this." He tossed the gadget onto the pool table.
"I thought you were the all powerful leader of the Gemini Coven now." Elena said mockingly.
Kai narrowed his eyes. "Cute." He picked up the broken ascendant and waved it in her face. "I destroyed this so it couldn't be used again."
Damon nodded his head pushing himself off the door. "Well can't we use that hunk of junk to send a message at least? It is her birthday."
Newly swarmed sadness plagued Kai. He swallowed thickly feeling the guilt piling up. "Is is?"
"Yeah," Damon put on his best somber look. "It's really sad I mean, Bon Bon getting all dressed up to a party that no one even going to show up to." As he talked he walked farther into the playroom to stand in front of Kai. "I wonder if she even knows today is her birthday or do all the days just blend in one vast sea of misery." He let his shining blue eyes fill with mock torment.
Damon peeked at Kai and rejoiced inside that he was getting to the emotional psychotic killer. His eyes flitted to Elena for a second letting her know what he was doing. When she caught on, he turned his attention to Kai who was meddling in his own thoughts. All he needed was to put the nail in the coffin.
He down casted his eyes then looked up at the ceiling. He sighed letting his shoulders slump. "I wonder . . ."
NAILED
The emotions swarming in Kai began to feel worse making him feel regret and remorse. Flashes of how he hurt Bonnie came to the forefront of his mind. The witch bit the inside of his cheek wanting to get angry but he couldn't find the will to do it. All he felt was shame.
Kai looked down at the chard ascendant in his hands. He turned it to the side fiddling with the cogs and wheels. "One of the crown wheels survived, so that's a positive." A crocked smirk spread across his face. "Plus, I am mega powerful." Both Elena and Damon rolled their eyes. "What do you want to say?"
The eldest Salvatore could have done a dance if he could, but instead he answered the maniacal coven leader's question. "Well, Bonnie needs magic to get out. We just need to tell her where to find some."
Kai let his eyes linger on Damon then down at the ascendant. Before he could speak, they heard the front door slam open. Damon pinched his thick brows together. "Stefan?" He called behind him.
Instead hearing his brother's voice, it was Jeremy. "What? What are you doing here?" Jeremy yelled. He was about to say something else but his words was caught in his throat mid-sentence.
"Jeremy!" Elena went forward but Damon beat her to it.
The vampire turned around ready to investigate but stopped when he noticed a body flying towards him. Jeremy hulking frame crashed hard into Damon making them both crash into the pool table. Kai hurried and moved out the way before both bodies crashed into him. Elena stood shocked seeing her brother and Damon lying on the floor.
Without another thought, Elena hurried and crouched down in front of them. "Jeremy, are you okay?"
Jeremy rolled off Damon feeling a newly formed bruise on his side. "I'm good." He coughed.
Not moving fast enough to his liking, Damon shoved Jeremy off his chest. "I'm fine, honey." He huffed. "Thank you for your concern." he rolled his eyes.
Elena ignored him as he check over Jeremy to see if there were any serious injuries. "What happened? Who did this?" She asked frantically.
Jeremy coughed again rubbing his chest feeling winded by the throw. "It was –"
"WHERE IS SHE?" a voice boomed throughout the boarding house. The four in the playroom jumped hearing the angered voice. "WHERE IS SHE?" It roared again.
Damon's wild eyes found Elena's brown doe ones. Elena shook her head in fright. "It couldn't be." She didn't want to believe it. She couldn't believe it. "He couldn't be here. He left, Damon. Why is he here?"
Not able to speak, Damon sat looking at the love of his life. He wished he could tell her it wasn't who they thought it was. That this was nothing . . . but he couldn't. For some reason the one that brought them hell was back in Mystic Falls, but the Salvatore didn't know why. Instead of answering Elena, he turned to the opened door waiting for the intruder to come. The footsteps were heavy and hard against the wooden floor. Patiently, Damon waited until he saw black boots entering the room.
The vampire didn't get a chance to speak. He didn't even get a chance to open his mouth. Instead, he was pinned against the wall staring at seething bright tawny eyes. "Where is she?" They hissed menacingly.
Damon could hear Elena gasp but he couldn't bring himself to look at her. He felt the intruders hands tightened around his throat. The vampire began to cough. "What . . . are you talking about?
Tawny eyes dissipated into their normal blue hue that only belonged to the hybrid himself, Niklaus Mikaelson. "Bonnie . . ." His voice ached with sorrow but was cloaked fiery ire. "Where is Bonnie?"
Thirteen Hours Earlier in New Orleans
Klaus was in his room packing for his quick trip to Mystic Falls. It has been months since he saw his love and he was ready to take her home. He had his city, his family was closer than ever, Esther and Mikael were finally out the picture along with his brother Finn, and by this time tomorrow he would have an werewolf army to protect his daughter. The only thing he was missing was his little witch.
There wasn't a day that went by Klaus didn't miss Bonnie. When he first met the witch, they were going against each other in the cafeteria of Mystic Falls High. He was the vampire hunter/history teacher, Alaric Saltzmen at the time, but Klaus took notice of her. It was mostly her power that caught his attention.
The second time was when she showed up in the clearing chanting after he broke the moonstone curse. He remembered transforming feeling his werewolf side emerge then there was nothing but pain. Heat shot up his spine then to his head. He felt his blood vessels pop and regenerate only to pop again. His blood was boiling. His skull was on fire ready to split open. He felt everything the young witch was throwing at him. Though he was going through this, the newly transformed hybrid couldn't help but stare at the small witch. The Bennett witch looked mesmerizing.
She was the goddess of destruction that was going to end his life. From the corner of his eye, he could see the elder Salvatore brother carrying what he thought was a dead doppelganger. Like a jealous wife for not getting enough attention, Bonnie began to break every bone in his body. Klaus roared in pain making his black and tawny eyes fall on her. He was pissed. She was supposed to be dead. He watched the witch fall to death in front of him. Thinking about it made him even more wroth. He didn't take kindly to a bunch of teenagers and two young vampires pulling a wool over his eyes, but he had to say he was impressed.
He twitched, turned and yelled as he felt more bones break. He wanted to kill her, by the gods he wanted to kill her at that precise moment. She chanted louder and faster as she moved towards him then standing over the hybrid's limp body.
Her chocolate locks whipped in the wind as she stared down at him. It was in that moment Klaus took everything in that was Bonnie Bennett. She was unafraid. She was unmoved. Her heart shaped face was stoic and impassive – but her eyes, her eyes showed emotion that had Klaus captured by them. Her olive green orbs glowed dangerously. They were full of unimaginable hate and repulsion as she stared down at him. Knowing her murderous emotions were towards him, Klaus found that he couldn't stop staring at her.
Bonnie commanded his attention and Klaus was all too willing to give it to her. At that moment, lying on the dirt ground awaiting his death, the only thought in his mind was that the little witch was beautiful. It wasn't until his faithful brother, Elijah, took him – broken body and all – that he wanted her and wouldn't stop until he had her.
Memories of that night diminished when he heard a knock on his door. "Come in, Kol."
The youngest sibling walked in his brother's bedroom. The warlock could feel the hex that Finn gave him was doing its job. He was becoming weaker and his body temperature was dropping. He knew he had to figure out how to break the hex soon if he wanted to live, but first he needed a nap and the only bed that was comfortable enough for him was Niklaus' Californian.
Feeling a wave of tiredness, Kol decided to sit down. He almost whimpered feeling the softness under him. The bed was begging him to lie down. Ignoring the call, he looked beside him to see an open duffle bag with clothes inside. "Taking a trip?" He said digging inside the bag.
A smirk tugged at Klaus' lips as he grabbed another pair of jeans and shirt from the drawer. "You could say that." He moved his brother's hand out the way to drop the jeans and shirt inside the bag. "I have a witch to procure."
Kol lifted his brow in confusion. "A witch? What witch do you know?"
Klaus chuckled lightly. "Have you forgotten about my lover already, Kol? You two were thick as thieves." He grabbed his phone and placed it in his side pocket.
Recognition struck Kol. "Bonnie?"
Klaus nodded. "It's her birthday tomorrow. I thought it would the perfect time to bring her home to her real family. Hayley's wedding with Jackson will be the perfect opportunity to start our lives in New Orleans together." He grabbed four velvet boxes from his dresser. He tucked three of the velvet boxes into the side pocket of the duffle bag and stuck the other in his other luggage by the wall. "After Hayley's wedding, I will be taking her to around trip to France and Italy." Klaus smiled at the memory when Bonnie first told him she always wanted to travel all over Europe.
It was something her Grams had gotten to experience when she was younger. Bonnie told him how Sheila used to tell her stories of her traveling and showed her pictures and fashions she brought home from each place. It was a dream for Bonnie to share the same experience, to be able to leave Mystic Falls and explore the unknown.
"Though I am unable to plan a backpack trip all over Europe like she wished, France and Italy would have to do until all our pending threats are eradicated completely." He said as he placed their tickets inside the luggage and pulling his phone charger out as well.
"I think you might want to call the airport and see if you could get your money back, mate."
Klaus halted his hand from zippering up his bag to turn towards his brother. "What are you talking about?"
Kol swallowed the lump in throat knowing what he was going to tell Klaus would not only break him but also possibly have his throat ripped out if not careful. He was already dying, true but he didn't want to die at this moment. "Nik . . ."
Klaus' body tensed waiting for Kol to finish what he was about to say. When his brother didn't say anything, the hybrid began to lose his patience. "Spit it out, you idiot."
"Bonnie is dead."
Silence.
There was nothing but painful excruciating silence and being charismatic voluble soul, it bothered Kol to the upmost. He stared at his brother waiting for him to say something but it never came. He was just . . . still and indifferent as if he was still waiting for Kol to say something. Kol went to speak again until the sound of something being crush shrilled throughout the deafening silent room. The warlock scrunched his face in bewilderment by the sound seeing that neither he nor his brother moved.
The sound continued and Kol searched discreetly until he saw black pieces of something on the floor. Kol's eyes traveled up to see Klaus' hand was clutching tightly on his phone charger until it finally gave out under pressure breaking the object into a million pieces.
Kol let his eyes linger on his brother's closed fist before he looked up at him. "Nik . . . Nik speak to me." There was still no reply.
Klaus stood letting his brother's words wash over him.
Bonnie was dead.
Bonnie was dead.
As the three words saturated in his mind, different emotions attacked him at once. Fear struck him first. Then it was grief. The hybrid felt his dead heart squeeze tightly.
His Bonnie was dead.
Before Klaus fell into a distressful down spiral, he cloaked it with the emotion he knew best. The emotion that came easiest and ironically gave him comfort, seething apoplectic rage.
"You due to watch what come out your mouth, dear brother." Kol watched Klaus come to life seeing his tense shoulders, clawed hands, and blue eyes burn with unspeakable malevolence. "You were only beginning to get back into my good graces. I would hate for you get back onto my bad side." He threatened.
Kol held out his hands as Klaus walked towards him in a prey like manner. "Nik . . . I'm telling the truth. Bonnie is d –"
"Enough!" The hybrid hollered. "Enough of your games and fabrications."
"I'm telling the truth!" Regardless of how tired he was, Kol stood from his comfortable position. Already he missed it. "Bonnie was the anchor to the other side. The other side was about to implode while taking everyone who resided in it." He paused letting Klaus understand what he was saying. "I saw it myself, Nik. The people that were in there sucked up like a bloody vacuum in the sky. Since Bonnie is – was connected to the other side that meant she would go along with it." Kol stared at his brother's broken expression. "She's gone, Nik."
Klaus stared wide-eyed at his brother letting his words sink in. He wanted to believe his brother was lying to him. He wanted to believe that everything Kol said was one of his cruel sick jokes to get back at him for all the times he daggered him. He wanted to hear anything than what he was hearing now. The tightness in his dead heart had loosened and sunk weighing heavier than usual. Burning anguish filled him but he didn't fall into it. He was too angry. He was angry about the thought of losing his lover forever but he was mostly angry with Bonnie.
How could she not tell him? How could she have kept such a secret from him? All this time? It has been six month since they last spoke. He called her when Mikael began appearing in his dreams and in Hayley's. He remembered discussing about the other side and anyone in it would cease to exist. What he didn't remember at the slightest that Bonnie would go along with it. If he knew that information, he would have dropped ever thing and been on his way to Mystic Falls. What made him more pissed was he knew that she knew he would do it.
The little witch had the big bad wolf wrapped around her witchy finger. He loved her, more than anything next to his daughter, Hope. His two girls were always his priority. It was the sole reason he wanted to take back his kingdom. He wanted to raise his child in a place he called home and have his woman ruling beside him. That was always the plan. He told Bonnie specifically it was his plan at their last encounter face to face which was her graduation.
The talk they had didn't end well between the two. There was a lot of arguing and a lot of pointing fingers. The meat of it all was they were on opposite sides that couldn't cooperate with one another. On one side, there was the Original family. After Klaus finally snagged the witch and wormed her way into his black murderous heart and him in her stubborn pure one, she did as well with his siblings who once gotten to know her adored the witch to pieces. Rebekah finally had someone to call a friend and wasn't the only girl, Kol had someone to mess with and call little sister once more, Elijah had someone to teach and protect, and Klaus had someone to love. Bonnie fit perfectly with them.
Then there was the complication on the other side, the dark side what Kol liked to call it, Bonnie's friends. There was the bubbly blonde Caroline, the annoying doppleskanker, the annoying human that Rebekah fancied at one point, his used to be minion Tyler, and the Salvatores. They were always in the way. They were the sole reason Bonnie wanted to remain in Mystic Falls and refused to come with Klaus to New Orleans. Her blinding loyalty was laudable but it pissed him off. It took everything in him not to kill them all. For Bonnie's sake be damned, they were straining his relationship with his witch.
He didn't like the fact they had to pretend to hate each other when they were in the company of her friends. It was good role-play and foreplay in the bedroom but it still grated his nerves. There were times they were seriously against each other and purposely caused blows to one another. Though this was true, at the end of the day she always came home to him. No matter how mad they were at each other, Klaus always found her waiting in his study looking over his newest sketches or sometimes in the library with Elijah. Majority of the time – and the hybrid relished in the fact – when he came home, he finds her in their room disrobed on their bed waiting for him to take her.
However, there was one night she didn't return. It was the day before graduation. He expected her to be there waiting for him when he came back from New Orleans. Sure, she was mad at him for getting another woman pregnant (to his offense, they were over) but he thought she would still come to him. When she didn't show up, Klaus didn't think something could be wrong. He thought Bonnie was still mad at him, so he let it go.
When he arrived at the graduation, he knew something was different about her. He didn't have time to question it because he was taking heads off at the moment.
When they finally had their alone time and a long argument, it was agreed that Klaus would leave to retrieve his kingdom and take care of his baby. Bonnie would stay in Mystic Falls. Klaus wasn't hearing it. He wanted Bonnie by his side through everything but she refused. They went back and forth until Klaus relented. With one last kiss from his lover, he made her a promise that he was ensure to keep whether she liked it or not.
He finally had happiness with Bonnie and he wasn't going to let her go that easy. He had lived a thousand years without a person he thought he never thought he would need. Now that he had her, he wasn't going anywhere. Bonnie Bennett was forever his. Whether she was with the Gilbert boy or someone else, it didn't matter. He was her last in everything. Klaus would have her, even if he had to drag her or threatened her friends to come with him, he would do it. He would do it because Niklaus Mikaelson was unbearably irrevocably in love with Bonnie Adara Bennett.
Though he loved her beyond reasoning, Klaus couldn't help but feel betrayed by her. Did she not love him the way he did her? Was there relationship damaged from their last argument? Did she not remember that Klaus promised that he would come back for her whether the witch was walking beside him or dragging her in the car? Why didn't she tell him? Why did she leave him without a word? Hurt flared inside him fueling his ire.
Not wasting another second, Klaus snatched his bag from the bed and threw it over his shoulder. "I'll be back before Hayley's wedding." He said pushing past Kol.
"Where are you going?" Kol walked after him.
"I need to know what happened and I want to know how. The only way I can know is if I go back to Mystic Falls." Klaus swung his other bag over his shoulder. "Rebekah will keep an eye on you and work with you to get rid of the hex."
"What about the swamp wedding? What about my niece?"
"The preparations for the wedding will be fine without me here. The movers know where to place things. I will call Hayley while I am on the road to be the overseer of her wedding. Hope is fine under Hayley, Cami, Davina and your care. There are wolves everywhere and Marcel's vampires are on watch as well." He traveled down the steps seeing the two out of three people he needed for his trip. "You heard?"
Elijah nodded. "Do you need my assistance, Niklaus?"
"Don't I always, brother?"
Hayley walked in carrying Hope. In tow were Jackson and some of the werewolves. The hybrid raised her arched brow. "Where are you going?"
"I have to leave to Mystic Falls. I'll be back before your wedding." Klaus held out his arms to hold his daughter. Hayley passed her over and Klaus immediately showered Hope with kisses. "Daddy will be back." He whispered in her ear. The little bundle squealed feeling her father kissing her apple cheeks. With one last kiss on her head, he handed his daughter back to her mother. "I will return." He motioned his head to Elijah to follow him.
"Do you think she is truly gone from us?"
Ignoring his brother question, he tapped Marcel's shoulder but kept walking towards the door. "You're coming with me."
"What?" Marcel looked towards Gia then back at Klaus.
"Let's go Marcel," Klaus yelled over his shoulder. "And bring your witch with you."
"What exactly aren't you getting?" Kol followed behind the group. "You are glutton for punishment, Nik. Did you not just hear what I said upstairs? Bonnie is gone. She is d –"
Before Kol finish the word, he had a hybrid in his face where they were nose to nose. "If you think about finishing that sentence I will rip your tongue out."
The once Original did not back down from his feral brother. "Don't get pissy at me because you're hurt. I didn't do anything wrong. I am only trying to save you the trouble."
"Okay, what is going on?" Marcel decided it was time to interfere. Davina finally came from the library after Marcel called her down. She stood beside Marcel but closer to Kol so Klaus wouldn't do as he promise to rip his tongue out.
Forgetting about Kol's annoying presence, Klaus looked at his childe. "I am going to Mystic Falls and I am in the need of your assistance along with Elijah."
"Why do you need me?" Davina spoke up. Her Klaus weren't close, so she couldn't comprehend why did he need her.
"Because I have a feeling I will need a witch." Klaus opened the door leading to outside. "Now if you don't mind, love, pick up the pace. I am on a very tight schedule." Not waiting on anyone to answer, he stalked out the door
Catching up, Marcel walked in step with him. "Whoa, wait. Why are we going to Mystic Falls?"
"We are going to see about a witch." Elijah answered happily.
He had missed Bonnie's presence. It had took a long time for the witch to forgive him after the situation with her mother, but once he had her trust, Elijah made a promise to never to break it. Bonnie had a hold over him that wanted to protect her. It was almost fatherly but there was a brotherly complex with him towards the witch. Like his other siblings, Elijah had gotten fiercely close to Bonnie. Hearing what Kol said about their witch dying crushed him, but he knew it was nothing compared to what Niklaus was feeling now.
It wasn't hard to see how much it was effecting his brother. It wasn't evident to the naked eye but once one knew what to look for, it was clear that Klaus was struggling with the news. Going on the crusade to Mystic Falls was the only thing keeping his brother to have hope that maybe, just maybe things was not what they seemed. That maybe there was more to the story than Kol told him. So, if his brother needed his help and support to find answers about the witch, whether she was alive or truly gone, then he would do everything in his power to do just that.
"A witch?" Davina halted in front of the black Lincoln. "Who?"
Klaus opened the back to his SUV and threw his duffle bags inside. "A Bennett witch," He shut the door to move around the driver side. He turned to the young witch with a devilish smile. "That will soon be my future wife."
"But she doesn't know it yet." Elijah chimed as he stepped inside the passenger side of the truck.
"Are you insinuating that she will say no, brother?" Klaus questioned smirking from the driver's side of the SUV.
"That's exactly what I think." Davina muttered as she strapped herself in.
"Why does Kol fancy her again?" Klaus asked to no one.
Marcel leaned forward entering the previous conversation. "From what I heard upstairs, Kol is led to believe your witch is no longer."
"I don't believe it."
Marcel narrowed his eyes at his sire. "Do you believe Kol is lying to you?"
"I must ask the same thing, Niklaus." Elijah chimed in. "I find that hard to believe. Regardless how things turned out last time between them, Kol adored Bonnie."
"I don't think he's lying. I think he believes he is telling the truth. But I can't accept his truth." Klaus turned to Elijah letting him see how hurt and distraught he truly was. It was heart breaking to see. "I can't accept that she is gone from me . . . from us."
Elijah nodded understand. He looked ahead of him and said with a deep sigh. "Then let's go on with this journey you placed us in."
Klaus nodded and turned on the ignition. Before he could pull off, Rebekah called out towards them. "Oh bloody hell." He muttered turning off the ignition. "In her old body or new one, our sister will always and forever will be a annoyance." He complained. "Her ill-timing I could definitely live without for a century or so."
Elijah rolled the window down. "What is wrong, Rebekah?"
Rebekah held out their mother's grimoire. "I thought Davina would need this." Elijah took the book and handed back to Davina. "Kol told me everything." She stared pointedly at Klaus. "Bring her back, Nik."
"That's the plan."
"If she . . . if Bonnie is . . ." The newly formed witch couldn't finish her sentence. Bonnie was her friend, her only friend. To lose her would be . . .
"You won't lose her." Rebekah looked up to Klaus seeing the determination in his eyes. "We are not going to lose her, not when we finally have her."
"But Nik . . . you have to think if she is truly," Rebekah closed her eyes and swallowed the lump in her throat. "If she is truly gone, you have to be mentally and emotionally prepared."
All eyes were on Klaus who was steadily looking at Rebekah. Slowly he turned to look out the windshield and cut on the ignition. "I'm bringing our Bonnie home to New Orleans to be with me and her family tomorrow night." He said with conviction. "I am taking her away from her old life for good."
"And if she doesn't want to?"
"She belongs with us." Klaus said simply. Elijah nodded in agreement.
"But if she is," Rebekah moved closer to the car window. Brown eyes glowered staring at her brother. "Make sure they all suffer." Klaus and Elijah knew exactly who 'they' were. "We all know they are all behind it. Bonnie would sacrifice herself for her so called friends, especially that doppelganger wench." She spoke vehemently.
"I will personally take care of the doppelganger." Elijah volunteered not hiding his disgust on his face.
Marcel and Davina looked at each other then back at the three in the front. They could feel the tautness emotion in the car and it was suffocating.
"I will do more than make them suffer." Klaus finally spoke. He turns his gaze to Rebekah seeing the fierceness that rivals his own. "I will kill them. I will kill them all."
Present
Klaus squeezed Damon's neck tighter. Just looking at the Salvatore made him want to tear his head off.
"Niklaus," Elijah called from behind him walking into the room. "Extract your hand from Damon's neck." He looked around the room drolly. "How else is he suppose to speak?"
With one last squeeze, Klaus let Damon go. The Salvatore staggered a bit looking crossly at the hybrid who wore a tight smile on his face. He hated him. He hated him, so much.
Soon a Klaus let go of Damon, Elena found her way to Damon. Damon moved in front of Elena to protect her. Klaus scoffed at the sight. As if he could stop him from getting to her was a comical thought.
"Now, I believe my brother asked you a question, Mr. Salvatore." Elijah squinted as he fisted his hand in his pants pocket. "Where is the witch?"
"What do you want with her?" Damon sneered.
Klaus looked over an Elijah showing him he was quickly losing his patience. The elder Original held up his hand gesturing his brother to wait. "Damon, we really don't have time for your . . . wittily banter you enjoy to have. We are in a time crunch I am afraid, so again," This time the Original looked more frightening standing beside his brother. "Where is Bonnie?"
"Elijah?" Elena stepped forward. "Why are you doing this? What do you want with Bonnie? If this is a way to –"
"Rest assure, Elena this has nothing to with you. This has everything to do with our dear Bonnie."
"Your dear Bonnie?" Damon scrunched up his face in disgust. "That doesn't even sound right coming from you." He shook his head not getting any of what was happening. The only thing he cared about was getting Bon Bon back. "Listen let's cut the crap shall we? We," Damon circled his finger around on their side of the room. "Have things to do and you interrupted our party which you were not invited to." He said with one of his reappearing and disappear smiles. "So again, what do you want with Bonnie?"
"I am here to take her home to her real family." Klaus said plainly.
"Her real home?" Jeremy questioned.
"Her real family?" Elena didn't know what was going on. Everything was going completely to Weird-ville "Bonnie lives in Mystic Falls with the people who loves her."
"Elijah," Klaus turned to his brother looking a second away from ripping the doe eyed doppleganger's heart out from her chest. "You volunteered."
Elijah patted his brother shoulder. "This will be the last I ask. Where is Bonnie?"
"She's dead."
Everyone turned to Kai who was leaning against the wall. Klaus took a step closer to the new face. "I'm sorry, who are you?"
"I'm Kai." The witch waved. "Hi."
"You say Bonnie is dead?" Elijah asked.
"Well yes . . . sort of."
"Explain."
"Well she is dead but she in a pris-" Kai didn't get a chance to speak because a pissed off Damon had him by his throat.
One moment Damon was choking Kai, the next he was on the floor with Elijah standing over him. He let his brown eyes glare at the vampire before turning back to the Gemini Coven leader with a small smile. "You were saying?"
Kai rubbed his neck and straightened his shirt. "As I was saying until I rudely and painfully interrupted," Kai glanced at Damon who growled in return. "Bonnie is stuck in a dimension in 1994. When the other side went ka-blewy, both Bonnie and Damon was stuck in my imprisonment for some odd reason."
Klaus eyed the Salvatore who was getting up. "Is that so?" He then turned back to Kai. "Tell me, how do one escape from this dimension?"
"With the ascendant." This came from Damon. He stood in front of the hybrid showing he was not affected by him or his brother."It's the only way to get to and from the prison we were in."
"Where is this ascendant?"
"I torched it." Kai said with a thoughtful smirk. "It was so cool as it lit up in flames." He said with satisfaction of his crafty work. "It just when bloosh." He made another explosive sound and waved his fingers imitating the fire. Kai's joy soon was forgotten when all four vampires looked like they were ready to tear him apart, especially Klaus. "But I was just about to fix it or well, try to fix it to get Bonnie out. Yay!"
"What is the plan?" Elijah pinched the bridge of his nose contemplating killing them all.
"Well, before you showed up," Damon said nastily. "Kai was going to tell us a plan to communicate with Bonnie to be her magic,"
"Magic," Klaus was beside himself. "She has no magic?"
Damon rolled his eyes what seemed like the millionth time today. "Look, I'm not going to give you a play by play." Klaus stepped forward but Elijah held out his hand to stop his movement. "Yes her magic is gone, but Kai is going to send us," Motioning again to their side. "To direct her where to find some. She gets it then we send her home, to us – her real family, in Mystic Falls, again with her family."
"I believe you are wrong like any other time, Damon." Klaus said to the Salvatore who marred a scowl on his beautiful pale face. "When Bonnie is retrieved from this imprisonment," He looked back at Kai with a menacing glare. "And she will be retrieved," He turned back to Damon. "She will be coming with us, her family. It is the same family that is there for her and loves her unconditionally."
Feeling tears ready to spill over, Elena couldn't hold in her anger. "You don't know what you are talking about! We love Bonnie." She couldn't take it. She couldn't take anyone question her feelings towards her best friend. Bonnie was her sister and no one was going to tell her that she didn't know Bonnie. No even two of the oldest vampires could tell her differently.
"Says the doppelganger that exchanged brother with a flick of a wrist?" Elijah said coldly causing shock to Elena. "How is Stefan by the way?"
The vampiress shook her head finally letting her tears fall feeling hurt by Elijah's cruel words. "It wasn't like that."
"I don't care what it was like!" Klaus bellowed having enough of the drama. "What I care about is getting my witch."
"She's not yours." Damon batted back.
"She will always be mine." Klaus said with confidence before he walked over to the clock on the wall. "Do you see this clock" He pointed. "You have exactly an hour to bring me Bonnie or I will kill every last one of you, except for that one." Pointing to Kai. "Until he is no longer useful to me, then I will kill him too and we will bring Bonnie back ourselves."
Kai's jaw slacked completely flabbergasted. "What did I do?"
"You have an hour." Klaus turned out the room. "I'm going to get a drink. Coming to join me, brother?"
"I would be delighted." The elder Original said with a smile.
Elena, Jeremy, Kai, and Damon watched the two Originals leave the room. The room was silent with everyone trying to understand what happened . . . well, until Damon broke said silence.
He turned to the group beside him with his steely blue eyes bulging out of his head. "What the hell just happen?"
This originally was going to be a one-shot but I decided against it. So here's the deal, this will be a five-shot (is that the correct term?). I have three other multi-chapter fics I have to take care of along with other new fics I am working on, so this will not be long. Just enough for you to see into Bonnie and Klaus' relationship in the past and the present time where everyone is trying to get Bon Bon back. I have to say I am not a happy camper with this TVD season. Though the last episode with that Bamon hug and Caroline turning off her humanity gave me a smidgen of hope for the rest of the episodes to come and season 7, this season is still not my favorite. But anywho, enough of all that! Reviews/follows/favorites are welcomed. I would like to see what you guys think of it. Until next time :)
