Prompt: Regina walking into Zelena & Robin Hoods Wedding, Enchanted Forest, reflection before season 4 finale.
This couldn't be real. This couldn't be happening. He kissed her. Or did she kiss him, the details are still fuzzy. He told her he loved her but he was to marry another. What should she do? Stop the wedding? Ruin her half sisters 'happiness' to get her own?
Regina began to pace outside of the large wooden church doors. The ceremony had just begun inside but she couldn't enter. Or could she? With a little help from a strange woman named Emma Swan she had managed to get past the numerous guards surrounding the church.
She had prepared a speech, well, most of one at least. It, along with that seemingly magical kiss kept playing through her mind as she walked back and forth.
"Just do it Regina!" The insufferable blonde stranger said from her place on top of the wagon.
"I can't just walk in. What if they are meant for each other? What if this was all a mistake? I can't ruin his life too." She pushed the sob that so desperately wanted to escape her lips down as far as she could into herself.
"Regina, he's your true love, not this wicked woman Zelena's. You'd be ruining both of your lives if you don't stop this before its too late!"
"Ugh!" Regina huffed before swinging the doors open to reveal the 60 or so people sitting in rows, spin around it see where the commotion had come from. The church fell silent. Zelena's eyes seemed to shoot daggers at the sight of her sister. Without skipping a beat Regina's feet began to move forward unlike anything they had done before. Her hips seemed to sway with the growing self-confidence she tried so desperately to project.
"Didn't anyone tell you, Robin Hood belongs with me." Regina said, her voice low.
"Yes dear but he looks so much better with me." Zelena smirked as though those similar words had been said before, in a different time.
"Do I not get a say?" Robin asked as his eyes seemed to smile as wide as his own face.
"But you gave me your word Robin." Zelena tried to whisper so no one else in the room could hear it.
"Let him go Zelena." Regina voiced, her tone almost protective in nature. Robin took a step towards Regina, meeting her eye to eye.
"You came?" He whispered still grinning like some dumb idiot.
"Can't ruin both of our lives can I?" Regina played. Without warning Robin pulled her close, capturing her lips in a kiss that no one could ever forget. The room went black, all that was left was the two of them.
Their eyes open revealing the psych ward room where Zelena sat on the bed.
"What happened?" Zelena said looking at the two lovers still wrapped in each other's arms. "No you weren't supposed to get your happy ending! This wasn't supposed to happen!" She began to freak out as Regina let out a laugh. She glanced around realizing they were back in Storybrook.
"Seems like fate is much more powerful than any author or book." Robin smiled, leading his love out before locking his almost wife in the padded room.
"I can't believe you almost married her." Regina said with a smirk as they walked hand in hand down the hallway.
"And I that the author didn't make you queen. It's a shame, you look incredible in those dresses." He winked opening the door for them to leave.
"Well maybe if we get married ill wear one of those dresses." She teased. Her heart sank at the loss of connection with his warm hand quickly making her heels turn to see what was wrong.
"Not the right place I know." Robin said from down on one knee. "I've waited too long to do this."
