"I cannot wait to watch you in this nativity play. You will be perfect." Lysander teased, as Lily stepped out from behind a curtain in a Mary costume.
"And if that bloody Alex tries anything on you, tell him he has got me on his case." Lily laughed. She was playing Mary in Hogwarts' first ever Christmas nativity. The downside was that Alex, her ex-boyfriend was being Joseph.
"Thanks Lysander. You're so sweet and caring." She smiled, her innocent face not realising how lovesick Lysander was for her. To Lysander, it felt like she was playing him.
"Thanks." He mumbled his cheeks pink.
"Well I desperately need to be backstage so, goodbye. See you in a few hours." She smiled, before slipping away from his eyesight.
"You really like Lily don't you?" Lysander's twin, Lorcan, arrived in the common room. He could tell from Lysander's face who he had been talking to.
"Yeah." Lysander smiled.
"You still going to giver that card?" Lorcan asked. The card in question was a Christmas card Lysander had written for Lily, confessing his feelings.
"Yep." He popped the 'p' and quickly ran off.
The show was starting in five minutes and everyone was backstage. Lily was fretting with nerves, making sure everyone knew their lines and costumes were perfect. She did not want anything to go wrong. The five minutes passed fast and the show started.
In one word, Lily described it as a disaster. Everyone else chose the word perfect. But maybe it was just Lily's crazy, over-obsessive mind. She ran off stage and hugged everyone. She still had one hug left. Alex. He had run off. Something Lily was kind of used to, back from their dating days. She wandered around the hall and found him. She felt his arms wrap around her, lift her up and spin her around.
Lysander watched every small move she made. As he watched their twirling hug, his heart shattered into a million pieces.
"Ly! Wait, who's that card for?" She gestured to a gold envelope he held in his hand.
"Just some girl." He muttered.
All Lily could say was "oh."
