Alanna: The First Adventure
A long, long time ago A little boy and girl Were red haired twins out back Their mean old father he did sin Alanna wished to be a knight, To win the wars and lead an attack Thom, the boy, he'd rather spell us So they played a trick and didn't tell us They swapped places on that day And went away and didn't say So the girl became a boy so lean And went to the castle to see the queen, And become a knight as well That's how she became a page..
Bye, Bye, Miss Alan the page Bored with her lord, she had to make her own sword She had to make herself strong, she had to try Sayin' This will be such a good lie, This will be such a good lie
This Alan-girl did not behave But later on the prince did save, She got bashed and crashed, on her way Left out of the swimming so she wouldn't be seen When teased she shouted something obscene These red-heads, so touch-ay But they really do get up and go And her sword work ain't just so and so She really beat a man or two But will she ever day that rue? She started on this knighthood race? She's really just a cuckoo-case Not one for pretty, pinky-lace Oh no, that's just for girls.
So we sang 'Why, Why, Missy Alan, O why? Are you crazy? Or just hazy- do you ever cry? You could have been a lady instead of this lie, Sighin' why d'you wanna be knight? Why d'you wanna be a knight?
Now knighthood is no French croissant, There's much to learn and much to want, She was better'n any boy could be She was friends with Jon, and friends with Raoul, She was of course on the smaller scale Then came Ralon for to see If he could bash her head in, of course But she learnt to fight from unknown source Also known as George On thieving who did gorge With Ralon gone, there was but one fear But the princeling said, 'open your ear!' Lord Roger's one that I hold dear. So he is not evil...
So she sang 'Oh, sigh, sigh, what a disguise! May be light out in the night- but I'm not really a guy But to my friend George I really couldn't lie Singin' How I wish I was a guy. How I wish I was a guy
Her training payed off, so she couldn't sue, She went of to the desert, all her friends too She was about to be a squire okay, Jon had an idea when he saw That black city's dark door So with little 'Alan' at his back, he went searching all that day And met with Ysandir demons, *sighed* But our our heroes soon had them fried. But not without a token Jon saw that she weren't jokin' Cos' Alanna's clothes were toast But Jonny didn't mind, and homeward they did coast Rode away and left behind the ghost Of those Ysandir demons...
And Jon sang 'My, My, little Alan's a girl Should I hate her? Maybe later- now she's my squire She lied to us all and she said she's a guy Yellin' I don't care as long as she's my squire I don't care as long as she's my squire
