SZ'T: Just a short oneshot that I thought of in the shower one morning, I haven't posted anything in quite a while because my laptop had to go away for repairs. It somehow, miraculously managed to throw, itself!, out of a second floor window. Lol! I am already working on the second chapter of my KibaHina fic. And remember, if you want updates, pressure me!!
Naruto and Sasuke slowly walked along the road through Konoha that passed by the ninja academy. They were on their way home after playing in the play-park on the other side of the villiage. they were silent as they walked, having each others company was enough that they didn't need words.
They played together in the play-park everyday after the other children had been taken home by their parents. Sasuke didn't like being around other people because of the pitying stares the adults gave him, and the other children would always fight over who he was going to play with. Naruto didn't like being around other people mainly because of the adults. The stares of hatred they would give him before snatching their children up and taking them home if Naruto attempted to join their games.
In each other they found somone the same as themseles. Both had suffered great losses and were alone in the world.
As they passed the ninja school Sasuke stopped walking and Naruto stopped to wait for him.
"Sasuke?" He questioned.
"Naruto... Next year, we wil be here."
"What at the Ninja Academy?"
"Yeah, and I was thinking, maybe we should be rivals as well as friends. Because, if we have somone to better at stuff at, we will work harder..."
"We don't have to stop being friends do we Sasu-kun?" Naruto sounded worried, Sasuke was the only friend he'd ever had.
"Of course not Naru-kun!" Sasuke smiled at his best friend in reassurance.
"Actualy, that's a good idea then Sasu-kun."
"You agree Naru-kun?"
"Yeah! From the moment we become students at the ninja academy, we won't just be friends, Uchiha Sasuke! We'll be rivals! And we'll both try to be the best ninja in the world!"
"And we won't stop until we achieve our goals!" Sasuke joined in.
"That's a promise!!" They said at the same time, slapping their hands together to seal their deal.
They ran off down the road laughing and shouting at the top's of their voices, the light of the setting sun putting orange fire in their young, determined eyes.
Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha, best friends and rivals for ever!
10 years later...
16 year old Naruto faced a 16 year old Sasuke in the middle of a barren waste land in the middle of the Rock country.
"Come home Sasuke!" Naruto pleaded.
"You know I can't do that Naruto, I have yet to achieve my goal..." Sasuke replied, a hint of a smile on his face.
"I know." Naruto smiled a bittersweet smile. "But that won't stop me from trying!"
Sparks flew and the sound of clashing Kunai rang out accross the otherwise empty battle field, lifting into the sky and filling the air.
