There are a lot of things Megumi notices. Little details that may or may not be important; random pieces of observation, gathered over time, that are deemed dismissible by most standards.

But not for her.

There are particular kinds of information that Megumi likes to hoard, for no other reason than that she cares, that she likes to know. Knowing things is a fundamental part for someone like her; all her experiences, all the information she has ever absorbed, she can recall clearly, and then she would know.

Knowing reassures her.

The titbits of information that Megumi keeps closest to her heart are not what one may suspect. Those are not of her personal milestones, like when she first made a member of Class Q, when she went onto her first case; nor are they of her Important Moments, like when she learned to rely on herself to solve a mystery, or when Class Q made the vow to stand together in the path of crime.

No, Megumi's treasures are simpler than those.

They are the way Kyu slings his bag, the slides of Ryu's pen across paper, the placement of assorted gadgets when Kazuma is working, the line of muscles when Kinta stretches. They are Nanami-sensei's winks, Hongou-sensei's frowns, Katagiri-sensei's encouraging smiles. They are Yukihira's snapping, Saburomaru's gloating. They are the turns of wheels when Dan-sensei comes to speak with them.

Megumi keeps these pieces of everyone with her. When she is alone, at night, she takes these memories out like how one may polish priced porcelain. In her mind's eye,

she can see all of them, in all the little moments, as clearly as if they were right there with her. And knowing this, knowing them, is what allows her to drift off to sleep in peace, trusting that whatever trial may be waiting ahead, she, they, will deal with it in due course, together.
