Deformed

He had no idea how he survived the explosion.

At least the world was saved from any further doom Noatak was going to inflict. Noatak was dead a long time ago.

There was no more Noatak. Only Amon. The brother he once knew as a child was long gone.

It was a surprise, but the only person who visited him was the Avatar herself.

He did so many terrible things to Korra, as the Avatar and as a girl.

He used her, manipulated her against her will, called her 'half-baked'. Out of all the horrible things he did to her, blood bending her out did them all. He put her through what no seventeen year old girl should have to go through.

She indeed was the Avatar, the most important title and deity of the world. Once he was in the Spirit World, he was lucky if he wasn't damned to the darkest corner of it. Even though the world looked to her when it was in crisis, she was still just a girl.

Every time he saw her at his bedside, he wondered how she could have forgiven everything that he did to her.

She was the one who helped him walk again. The hospital garden helped lift his spirits where they'd practice getting him back on his feet. There were many colourful flowers and petals, but the only thing that he could focus on was her.

Slowly, he realized he was beginning to fall for her.

It was a cool evening, the sun off into the horizon. The skies were painted in shades of blue, pink, and gold. They were sipping tea as they celebrated his achievement of walking from the door to the garden gates.

This was the closest they've ever been with each other. He didn't know if she realized it, but her shoulder was touching her shoulder. As his eyes began to close, he realized he kissed her.

What was more amazing was she kissed him back.

"After everything I've done, after all I've put you through… how could you even care for me that way?"

His face was scared and damaged from the boat explosion. He was far from the man that he was before the revolution. How could Korra even stand to look at him, much less love him?

A small laugh left her as she held his face. "The crazy thing is… I'm not sure myself."
