Steve is sick. And Tony is freaking out.
He has good reason to, of course. Steve is Captain America. He doesn't get sick. It just doesn't happen.
So when it does and Tony is in D.C. on a business trip, the other Avengers can understand why he left in the middle of his conference and got on the first flight he could home.
Natasha is standing next to Steve's bed, her eyes wide with contained worry, and Tony sits down on the bed by Steve. The blonde is coughing, and he has a fever, but it's probably just a bad cold.
That's what Tony hopes at least.
Natasha looks at Tony for a second, then nods and leaves the room, probably to find Pepper. Tony is left alone with Steve.
Steve looks up at Tony with a half-grin on his face, despite the fact that he's coughing up a lung and looks all around miserable.
"How in the world did you get sick?" Tony wonders quietly.
Steve raises an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"
"You're Captain America. Shouldn't the serum protect you against things like this?"
"Sometimes the serum doesn't always work, Tony. It can't protect me against everything, especially something like a cold."
Tony sighs, shaking his head. "Do you need anything?"
"Yes, actually," Steve nods. "I want to know why you left D.C. because of me."
"You're sick," Tony frowns at him. "Of course I'm going to come back to make sure you're okay."
"What will Pepper think?"
"Pepper agrees."
"I highly doubt that. That woman works even when she's sick."
"Yeah, well, have you talked to her? No, I didn't think so."
Steve shakes his head, coughing a few more times. "Fine, Tony, whatever you say."
Tony grins victoriously. "You go to bed, Steve. You'll feel better in no time."
Steve rolls his eyes, but he does pull the covers up higher to go to sleep.
Tony leaves the room, closing the door behind him quietly. When Steve was feeling better, Tony would send him to the doctor. If his boyfriend could still get sick, then what was the point of taking any chances? Steve was getting every single vaccine he could.
