I suddenly got this inspiration when I was bathing. I'm not sure whether there's this scene in the anime, but I remember seeing it. EDIT: Yeah, I went to search for the episode, and sure enough it appeared in episode 50. :D But I will change the ending, so yeah. Please enjoy. :)

"Why do both of you need to go so soon? It's only been a few days since you came." Gon's grandma frowned. She would surely miss the two noisy brats at home.

"Remember to write letters to us and update about what you're doing! Especially you Gon!" Mito-san reminded, standing akimbo in front of Gon.

Gon just grinned and nodded. Mito-san then turned to Killua, "Killua, you too. Write to us okay?"

Killua almost choked on his spit as he struggled to get his words out. "Eh? Me too? But I have only written blackmails to people. I'm not even sure whether I could write normal letters…"

The trio family stood still as an awkward silence overwhelmed them. Gon quickly sprung into action, jumping up and down to catch the attention of his family members as he exclaimed, "Joking! Killua's joking!"

Hurt briefly flashed across Killua's eyes, but it was gone too quick to even notice. To confirm his guesses, Killua put on a pretense and continued, "Ah! I remembered! I also wrote other types of letters. Death notices, Zoaldyeck style."

Gon chose to let out an ear piercing shout just right after Killua finished his sentence. Killua could not hide the lingering feeling of bitterness as he relaxed the fake smile on his cheeks.

I know it will be bad to let Mito-san and his grandma to know that I'm a killer…but to react like this. It somehow hurts.

"Killua always like to make this kind of jokes neh! Right, Killua?" Gon continued to cover the fact that Killua was an assassinator.

The pretentious forced smile was already back in place, Killua's heart beating with pain as he followed Gon's act.

"Oh…I really don't understand city kids' jokes…" The grandma apologized.

"Haha, it's okay." Okay, how can it be okay? Killua winced internally as he chided himself.

"Let's go Killua!"

(After a certain distance from Gon's house…)

"Hey, Killua, what's up? You looked unhappy." Gon asked, concerned as he glanced at the long face his best friend was making.

"Huh? It's nothing. Maybe it's because I lack of sleep." Another lie. I'm such a big liar.

"Mou, you already slept early last night! Haha, Killua is just like a kid~!" Gon teased, nudging into Killua to emphasize his point.

Killua smiled sarcastically and began to tickle Gon, making Gon choked out short laughters. The duo played and laughed on the way back to the ship, with Killua's lips tugging up all the way.

Smile.

He could only smile, right?
