Gleaming Romance
Danielle was at the end of her rope. She had one of the most stressful weeks in the world and she felt as if she was going to scream. She was walking to her room when Alisa ran to give her some flowers that she picked for her in a vase. Danielle had so many bags in her hands that she couldn't get the vase.
"Alisa you will have to hold them for a while sweetheart. I can't carry them with all this stuff in my hands," Danielle said calmly, trying not to show her exhausted spirit.
"But Mom, look, I have all of these beautiful flowers that only grow in certain areas of the city! I got them just for you," Alisa said, clearly proud of herself. She was just about to hold them up more towards Danielle's face when she accidentally tipped over the vase and water and flowers spilled all over her and Danielle.
"Alisa…," Danielle moaned, clearly agitated from the cold water and the mess. Alisa's face flushed red with embarrassment and she quickly began to clean the mess up.
"I'm sorry, Mom. I didn't mean to," Alisa said sadly as she quickly began to clean up the mess. Danielle went to her room to put her bags down and came back to help Alisa, but was surprised that she had already gathered up the flowers back in the vase and she was gone. Danielle scanned the area looking for her and spotted her walking out the back door.
"Alisa…Alisa, come back!" Danielle called. She knew her well enough by now that when Alisa was embarrassed or upset, they may not see her for a few hours. But Alisa kept walking and disappeared outside. Danielle sighed sadly and returned to her room. She dropped on her bed and fell asleep.
One hour later…
Once Danielle was awake, she saw a flower and a note on her night stand. She examined the note and it was written in a very formal and beautiful handwriting. She read it carefully.
"Come downstairs but watch your feet
For in the kitchen, you will find a treat."
"Well this is a bit strange," Danielle chuckled. She then walked down the stairs and she jumped because she felt something soft under her feet. She looked down and saw it was a mixture of soft flower petals, violets and roses to be exact. She giggled and walked towards the kitchen. She saw there was a small piece of her favorite cake on the table and there was another note with her name on it. She smiled warmly and ate her cake as she read the note.
"Is it good? I hope you agree.
Now go outside under the cherry blossom tree."
"Now who is leaving me all of these wonderful presents and notes?" Danielle said happily. "It couldn't be Kuphulu because he has been gone on a mission for two weeks, although this handwriting looks a lot like his." She then walked outside towards the cherry blossom tree. She noticed that the blossoms were even more beautiful this time of year and there was almost a strong sense of magic in the air. Danielle felt so refreshed that she almost felt as if she could just stay outside forever. She was so lost in her thoughts that she almost missed another note that was hanging from the lowest branch of the tree.
"Glad you've come; glad you're here.
Walk towards the falls, the time draws near."
"Now who could be doing all of this?!" Danielle thought, now determined to find the author of these lovely notes and the wonderful treats. She kept walking towards the waterfall and by now the sun was setting. She saw the moon shining so brightly that it made the water look as if it was made of crystals and melted stars. She was so mesmerized by the sight that she almost didn't see one more note placed neatly on a rock near the water. She walked over to it slowly and picked it up and opened it carefully.
"Look up," The note read.
She did as she was told and saw Kuphulu kneeling on a branch in the weeping willow tree. Danielle let out a squeal of happiness and ran over to the tree. He chuckled at her happiness and extended his tendrils, picking her up with the greatest care. He placed her on the branch next to him and he kissed her with so much passion that her eyes widened in shock. Once they parted, he slowly ran his hands through her hair.
"Danielle, I missed you so much, baby. Hope everything was alright while I was gone."
"It was, but I'm just happy you're back, sweetheart!"
"My love, I'm in love with you and I think you have known that for some time now."
"Yes baby, but I'm also in love with you too!"
"Well then…I guess now is the time for me to show you this," Kuphulu said, almost in a whisper as he pulled her close to him and pulled out an amethyst colored box. She looked at him and smiled the biggest smile she ever made in her life. She saw a beautiful ring that clearly took her breath away; it was a gold band with Amethyst gems around it and it had a sapphire gem in the middle with diamonds that clustered around it. It was truly a breathtaking ring!
"Danielle…will you marry me?" Kuphulu asked. Danielle jumped on his lap and gave him the biggest hug and kiss she could muster.
"YES! OF COURSE I WILL MY LOVE! YES!" Danielle said happily, as tears of joy gathered in her eyes. He hugged her tightly and returned her loving gestures. They kissed again and they were so busy kissing that they didn't notice Alisa walking by. She grinned at the sight, and slowly made her way back to the house. But while she was walking away, she crunched on a few leaves. This made the lovers part for a moment and when Danielle saw it was Alisa, she immediately told Kuphulu to grab her. He was confused but by the time he extended his tendrils, Alisa was too far away. Danielle pouted and explained what happened to him and now he understood why she wanted him to grab Alisa.
"She didn't mean to do it, but now she's avoiding me altogether!" Danielle said. Kuphulu chuckled lightly.
"My love, I'm sure you will come up with a plan," he teased. She giggled and kissed him once more and then they both climbed down from the tree and headed in the house. Everyone cheered for the new couple and they were rushed to the kitchen for cookies and punch in honor of their engagement. While they were celebrating, Danielle took this moment to walk upstairs to Alisa's room. She saw Alisa sitting on the bed and looking out the window. Once she saw Danielle enter, her eyes widened in nervousness. Danielle then quickly approached her, but Alisa managed to get on the other side of the bed.
"Alisa, sweetheart, everything is alright now. I'm not angry. Come join the party!" Danielle said sweetly. Alisa didn't look convinced at first, but her mind quickly changed when she felt tendrils wrap around her. She gasped and saw it was her father.
"Alisa…," he warned playfully. He and Danielle then jumped on her and tickled her a bit to help her feel better. Once she was laughing again, Danielle embraced her and kissed her gently on the cheek.
"Feeling better?"
"Yes! I'm sorry again; I love you guys so much!" Alisa said happily. They all three embraced once more and then went back downstairs to celebrate Danielle and Kuphulu's engagement.
