'Wake uppp!'
Palekit opened her green eyes to see big blue eyes staring back at her.
Palekit jumped up quickly, hitting Swiftkit in the chin while getting up.
'Ow!' Palekit heard from behind her, she stopped and turned to Swiftkit's bue eyes again, she squeaked and swiped reflexively.
Thankfully, Swiftkit jumped back, dodging Palekit's small claws.
'Woah! Watch it Palekit! It's just me!' Swiftkit meowed, bristling.
'Sorry, Sorry! I didn't know it was you!' Palekit squeaked, rushing forward, nuzzling Swiftkit's chest fur in apology.
'It's fine Palekit, just don't do it again, 'kay?' Swiftkit said, stepping back slightly, making Palekit look up.
'Okay.'
'What are you kits doing over there?' Honeyfeather, a calico she-cat with blue eyes called over to the two kittens.
'I was just startled Mama.' Palekit called back towards the nest area of the den. There were two areas, the nesting area where all the queens and kits nested, -which held Slimcloud, a pure white she-cat, Swiftkit's mother, and Honeyfeather, Palekit's mother.-
and there was the play area/entrance. It was a wide area with most of the wall stone.
'Okay, just don't hurt anyone.' Honeyfeather meowed as the kittens ran outside.
'Kits, am I right?' came a voice from behind Honeyfeather, she turned. It was Slimcloud.
'Completely! It feels like only yesterday I kitted! They grow up so fast right?' Honeyfeather replied, Then leaned in close and whispered, 'I over heard Raystar tell Pollenfur that he's going to have one of our kits be his apprentice! I wonder who it's going to be!'
Slimcloud gasped. 'Ooh! Who do you think will be the lucky kit? I bet it's going to be Swiftkit, for his bravery and speed. Or Pinekit, who's courageous and kind.'
Honeyfeather scoffed. 'Please, if it was one of your kits I'll eat my tail! I bet its...'
Palekit couldn't hear the rest of the conversation as she ran after Swiftkit. His legs were still small, but strong.
Swiftkit slowed as he rounded the nursery, almost colliding with Raystar. 'Sorry Raystar! Quick, Palekit is gonna catch me!'
He darted around Raystar and bolted down the small stretch to the main clearing.
He emerged from the small tunnel, there was a large clearing with two more dens in the corners.
The Warrior's den was in the left corner and was almost as big as the nursery, only a little bit smaller.
Swiftkit was only in the Warriors den once, and that was by mistaking it for the Nursery.
To the right was Raystar's den. Swiftkit was never inside it, though Pinekit was.
Swiftkit turned, looking for a spot to hide, finding an overhang above the tunnel he has just run through. He bunched his leg muscles and leaped, grasping the ledge with his claws and scrambled up, crouching far enough back so no one could see him, but just enough forward to see the Nursery tunnel.
Palekit heard a scrambling ahead and slowed, Swiftkit was probably on the overhang above the Nursery tunnel.
She was just out of sight, peering above her to see if anyone was there.
She turned just as she was shoved out into the open by a bundle of brown fur. She let out a yowl of surprise and ducked as a white blur flew past her, missing its mark, hitting Pinekit instead. 'Ow! Swiftkit! Its me you idiot!' Palekit let out a mrrow of laughter at Pinekit's sulky voice.
He was almost all brown, varying in shades all over, his head, his stomach, his tail. Except for his eyes, which was a rich green.
'Ow! Oh sorry Pinekit, I meant to get Palekit. You were in my way!' Swiftkit replied, trying to pull him self out of the tangle of fur.
Swiftkit was a creamy white, with big blue eyes, just like his mom.
Looking down at herself, Palekit remembered when her mother said she looked so much like her father, same pale fur, same tabby markings, everything but her eyes. Green like her mothers, but slightly darker. She hadn't met her father before, he was killed when she was only a day old.
She was was named after her father, his name was Palepelt, he was paler then her, that's what her mom said at least.
'You still haven't gotten me Swiftkit!' Palekit meowed as she bounded away, waving her tail tauntingly.
Swiftkit pushed off of his brother, who growled in protest and reached out, pushing him away with a tail flick.
Swiftkit raced after Palekit, leaping over rocks and twigs, he felt powerful when he went fast, he felt like he could run forever.
But that couldn't happen because Palekit had stopped suddenly, making him crash into her, rolling towards the small arc that lead out of the camp.
They hit a boulder, slowing down quite a bit. When they finally stopped, they were in front of the exit, feeling the breeze coming through the small hole was refreshing.
'Woah.' Palekit meowed, sitting up, only to lay back down from dizziness.
'Woah.' Swiftkit agreed, watching as the dust they stirred up was settling on their pelts, making even more of an mess.
Palekit started laughing, Swiftkit liked her laugh, it was light and sweet. He joined in, when they were done laughing, the dizziness had left and they just lay there, catching their breath.
'That was so fun.' Palekit finally breathed out, after just sitting in silence for a few minutes. 'Yeah, it was, but painful. Look here,' Swiftkit pointed to a scratch on his chest, a few drops of blood was on the fur around it. 'I hit a rock pretty hard, and my ear feels like it was crushed.' Swiftkit meowed, feeling his ear with his paw. It actually hurt really bad and he should probably get Gardenleaf to take a look at it, but he would do that all over again, just to make Palekit laugh with him again.
