Po blushed. His once mis-matched eyes were now paled beyond comparison, but somehow they always settled on her. It had been a few months since Katsa last saw Po, and now when she's standing just in front of him and his oldest brother Skye inside the cabin making himself a home, she wondered why Po seemed so against leaving this place.
Katsa handed him the ring that he handed her a month back that helped her save Bitterblue. It was obvious that he was set to die here, even after promising her that he would meet her later when he recovered. He softly grabbed his ring that held his title.
Her throat dried, and her heart beat fluttered when he kneeled down on one knee. Both bitter, sad and surprising happy thoughts slammed into the back of her mind. Po gasped in pain a bit, but he half smiled up at her. It seemed his graced was working very well now, more so than before.
"I know you're not looking for marriage. I know you don't want children, even through I'm a prince doesn't mean that we need to bare children right away. I'm the last in line to inherit the throne of my country. I have no dream to run a kingdom, but if you're by my side my life wouldn't be so dead. Please marry me, and I will do my utmost to make you happy" He lop-sided smile up at her. He was still struggling with his slight. He couldn't see anything, but yet his graced let him see a lot more.
"You wouldn't have to bare any children, you will still be able to travel and help the council if that what you wish." Po spoke softly to her and Katsa felt her heart torn in two. She didn't want this...not her head but her heart said another thing. Giddon was right when he told her that at some point in life she will desire to marry and to have children, maybe not to him but with someone else that she love.
"Why?" Katsa uttered,
"Because I love you, my wild one."
Love?
Did she love Po?
Leaving him by himself was the hardest choice that she ever made. It almost broke her. Only Bitterblue had saved her from her own sorrow...but she didn't want to be tied down either...but Po promised...that she could still do her normal activities. Her head was spinning and she was confused. He still kneeled before her waiting, for her answer and she knew that he also knew that the word 'yes' will only be a mere 33 percent. She could not change her views over the night. Was she scared of the risk?
She remembered faintly that she told Po's mother that she wasn't marrying Po, but she only gave her a singe look that said otherwise.
She love him.
Katsa was sure of it.
Her breathing became shallow and she knew she was going into a panic attack. Po reached for her hand to calm her softly to comfort her. His touch was warmth against her skin and she almost gasped at the surge of warmth that traveled down her skin from her hand. It felt so right, and blinking back her tears she gathered her courage and looked into Po's face.
Was it worth the risk?
"Yes." She smiled.
