Before the abyss.

Raziel stalked his next victim from on top of a building. When the pathetic human had given up all his guards, Raziel pounced from the rooftop and swiftly drained the man of all life. He suddenly heard the screams of other simple peasants, when he turned to the voices he saw two city guards. Raziel, without any hesitation sprinted towards the men and readied his claws, he hastily jumped to the side of a building and then pushed himself off, he was barely visible he was going so fast, he took one of the guards of his feet and grabbed his sword. 'These foolish humans should fear for their lives.' He thought to himself, drawing the blade to the next soldiers' throat. "You may either leave or give your life up to me." He said in a soft voice. The soldier replied in a very shaky voice, "Ok, thank you kind sir, for your graciousness and mercy." He sounded very relieved. Raziel lowered his blade and let the man get a few steps away, when the man turned and began to run, Raziel threw the blade into the back of his third victim of the night.

Raziel returned to Kains' citadel to find an impatient father pacing the courtyard. "Where the hell have you been?" Said Kain.

"Oh you know father, lurking in the shadows, waiting for unsuspecting humans to wander the streets." Raziel said arrogantly.

"Do you know what will happen if you get caught." Said Kain, now with his voice raised. Kain was not often this fatherly but he had already lost all his patience with this son.

"You are the eldest of your brethren and you need to realize that the most responsibility of this family will be placed upon you if something happens to me… But you are showing no responsibility, maybe the heir of my possessions should be your brother Malchaia or Zephon."

Raziel knew that his father could not be serious but he did not want to risk losing his title to the throne of vampires and the soul reaver. "Yes father, I am truly sorry, I'll be sure not to do it again.

Raziel made sure he was careful and didn't go out late enough to be punished.. His father was becoming more and more proud of him until that fateful day. Raziel was so sure that his father would be proud, envious even. He marched into the throne room and took a knee to respect his father. When he was acknowledged he looked to his sides and spread his new gifts. He had grown wings and was the first of the vampire kind to do so. Kain gave a very shocked look at him and stepped forward, Kain placed a hand on Raziels' wings, which made him jump a bit. After a few moments of ogling his son's wings, Kain made a decision, He was the father and the emperor of the Vampires, he would be the first to evolve and his sons would follow, not the other way around. Kain was overtaken by jealousy. He was going to change this blessing into a curse. Kain took a strong grip of his son's wings and began to rip them; he tore the bone from the flesh and made this gift completely useless. Raziel thought that the pain would never end but it slowly subsided, as did his consciousness, he was confused as to why his father would do this but did not have much time to think about it. He felt him self being dragged when he began to waver in and out of consciousness. His pain had finally caught up with him when he was fully awake, the pain was bad enough as it was but an even greater pain quickly joined it. Water was very harmful to vampires and Raziel found himself being tossed into the abyss, a giant body of water, his last memory before his descent into the spiralling water was the smug look of accomplishment on his fathers face. There were words repeating in his head again and again 'why have you forsaken me'. The pain was unbearable but once again it was slowly replaced by unconsciousness.
