The funny thing is none of us ever expected it to happen. None of us thought the plans would backfire. As John Dahlberg-Acton once said, "Absolute power corrupts absolutely." The International Pokémon Regulation Association (IPRA) was meant to stop any uprising that went against the moral values. The IPRA was intended to discourage and destroy organizations like Team Rocket, Team Plasma, and Team Galactic and so on. The IPRA squashed out these groups within three years of its establishment, however, the began instituting strict laws saying no one person could carry more than three Pokémon at a time, nor could any of these Pokémon be of more than one general type. Of course this was immediately met with resistance and thus, the IPRA splintered. A new faction formed, The Resistance. The Resistance was made up of those who believed in the bonds a trainer could have with multiple types of Pokémon, not just one. Of course, there was a power struggle, people and Pokémon alike died for their causes. Thousands upon thousands died, but in the end the IPRA was victorious. The war had ended and everyone rebuilt what they could, but no one could rebuild the family members who had perished during this time, I lost both my mother and father during the war. I was dubbed an orphan and sent to a special home with a new family, I was given a blank slate. It was during this time that the IPRA put into place a new law limiting Pokémon to only those who showed "True Potential" and had an "Inherent Goodness" which was measured by a test the IRPA administered to everyone once they reached the age of 18. The group which once promised to protect people and Pokémon had now disappeared, in its place a new IPRA stood, one which limits who can have Pokémon and what bond is shared between Pokémon and trainer. Now instead of children running about with their Pokémon they were sent to a school where they would learn about the world, its history, and its inhabitants. Now its ten years after the war, my class is graduating today, and the funny thing is the "New Generation" may not be as brainwashed as we're supposed to be.
