Fate
The crow pecks at the chain tied to its leg,
The dove nestles down in its cage of steel.
The eagle cries out for its nestlings dead
Fortune weeps as harsh fate turns 'round her wheel.
I feel the iron chafing on my skin
Ii flinch as cold steel bars my wings from flight
I taste the salt of tears that fall for kin
I sneer as Fate takes me to blackest night.
I feel I stand alone in the shadows
Yet a lingering presence makes me turn
A tall, dark man's scarlet eyes bleed his woes
He bows to silent Fate and bids me learn
The bonds that form and break in family
Have broken both our souls. Do you see?
