It was their typical drinking party.
The table was flooded with infinitely many sake bottles. Kira was passed out in one corner. Ikkaku was yelling at a random person then gets into a fight with said person. Yumichika was shaking his as he made his way to contain his "ugly" friend from killing the unknown man. Kyoraku was singing yet another love song for his precious Nanao-chan. Rangiku was giggling as she drowned her 5th sake bottle while she watched her crazy friends….
And Shuuhei watching, no, admiring her as she does.
She suddenly turns and catches his watchful eyes… and smiles.
'She's beautiful' he thought as he smiled back.
No other woman has ever caught his attention like she did. Most people assume that he likes her for her looks, particularly because of those two things called her breasts, but that was not the case.
Though he knew no one will believe him, he actually likes her for her personality. True, she was a drunk, lazy, flirtatious woman but that makes Rangiku, well Rangiku. She is true to herself, not bothering to change just to please others. Besides, despite her unpleasant habit of drinking and skipping work, she was a capable woman, well-respected in all divisions for her skills in fighting and loyalty to the Gotei 13. And for him, that's all that matters.
"Shuuhei?" she said breaking his train of thought.
The way she said his name sent shivers down his spine.
"Yeah?" he responded casually.
"You zoned-out there. What were you thinking about?"
'I was thinking about how much I love you.'
"Nothing important…"
"Are you sure? I mean, if you have a problem you can talk to me and I'll try my best to help you."
'Oh sure, you can help me. You see, I love you and I don't know how to tell you because I'm a coward!'
"Yeah, I'm sure. I guess I just had one too many sake for tonight."
"Oh… Okay."
'I'm such an idiot! What the hell is wrong with me?! I'm a freaking fukutaicho of the Gotei 13! I have stared death in the eyes millions of times but I couldn't do a simple thing as confessing my feelings. I would not tolerate thisany longer! I'm going to tell her what I feel, RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW!!!'
"Rangiku, I- "
"I miss him." She said, cutting him off.
"I'm sorry?"
"I miss Gin." She elaborated. "Why did he betray us? Why did he betray me?"
He felt his heart slowly breaking. "I-I don't know…"
"I know I should hate him, and believe me I do. But…" Tears began to pool at the brim of her eyes. "I hate the fact that even if he is a traitor, I still love him."
His heart shattered into a million pieces as he heard her say those words.
"I just don't know what to do!" she launched her to him, crying her eyes out on his shoulder.
He held her close as she cried, vowing to wait for her. To wait for her broken heart to heal so that she could heal his.
