This is my first fic on here. It isn't very long, since it was just something I wrote in a short period of time, without much thought placed behind it. Well, I hope you enjoy it. Plaease comment if you would like to. Thank you so much for reading.
The sun began it's slow descent from the sky, spreading it's color across the gathered clouds. Soon it would be dark, he knew. He would have to stop soon, not for himself, for he was perfectly comfortable with the deep darkness, but for the woman who clinged to his back. He looked around, and found a small clearing, large enough for them to camp out the night. He landed from his vantage lightly, with grace that would put any man to shame. Now, though, Inuyasha was no ordinary man.
"Are we stopping for the night?" the question came from the young woman he had been carrying.
"Yes," he replied setting her down in the most gentle manner possible "Why don't you go ahead and start setting up camp. I'm going to go and make certain there is nothing around to bother us." He started off towards the surrounding wilderness, but was soon turned about by the woman's call.
"Inuyasha?"
"Yes, Kagome?" he looked back to see the woman , her face turning a slight shade of red. She is so beautiful at twilight like this the thought flickered into his mind. He shook his head briefly, he couldn't feel that way for her. He already had someone who he loved.
He looked up to see Kagome peering at him, apparently she had said something.
"What was that again, Kagome? I didn't hear what you asked."
"Inuyasha," she said as she reached out and grabed his hand "What is it like to be half-demon?" Inuyasha sighed at the question and pulled his hand away. His face turned into a mask of torment.
" Oh, Kagome..." he said breathlessly "To be a demon's son is worse than torture. I am taunted by the power I am given, for I know that the only thing that keeps me from the true fate I deserve is the damned human blood that flows in my veins. If I could be a full demon, I would finally be able to truly be what I am meant to be. I could show the whole world what I am... and they will be but as ants under my foot. Scurrying so as not to be crushed."
"Isn't there any good to being human?" she asked quickly.
"No! To be human is to be weak, powerless, pitiful. When I am human I cannot stand the mother that bore me. Humanity is nothing, they flee from true demons or are crushed. I will not be weak! I will have the power I crave! I hate my human half!" He cried out, with a rage shocking to the young woman. He looked into her face and could see the moment of breaking. She began to shake, as the sobs began to trickle out of her. The tears would not have mattered to him, anger, fear, these he could accept, but her eyes held neither of those. In her eyes he saw pity, he saw one weeping for him.
He turned and went out to the woods, disappearing from the clearing. His anger was boundless. He ran as fast as he could through brush and briar. As though running away from some deadly enemy. Finally he fell on his knees, sobs racking his body. "Damn you Kagome!" he shouted to the top of his lungs "Damn you... why do I have to love you? I would give up everything for you, Kagome. I would be weak, I would be pitiful, I would live with the loss of all the power, just to be with you. Why did you find your way to my heart? Why...Why?" He lay there under the darkening sky rocking back and forth with the tears streaming. "Damn you, Kagome. Damn you."
