I got two good reviews on my stories and I was like 'WTF, I'm loved!' So I did a little dance in my room. Give thanks to Cascaper and tobi-is-emo for the new story. They have inspired me!

Disclaimer: I tried to be Steven Sondheim, but I was sent to the principal's office. Therefore, I do not own.

Staring

Mr. Sweeney Todd stared at the fire in front of him, brooding and sulking about the past.

"Oh, dearie, best not stare into the fire too long. Might go blind."

He payed Mrs. Lovett no attention as she moved behind him. Mrs. Lovett smiled, patting him on the shoulder affectionately. He glanced over in annoyance.

"Don't look at me like that, Mr. T, I was only tryin' to 'elp." She scolded him.

He stood up quickly, making Mrs. Lovett flinch, and stomped away. Mrs. Lovett sighed, sitting in the now unoccupied chair. She snuggled into the warmth that was Mr. Todd, sighing again, this time in pleasure.

By the sea would be a long time away, but she didn't mind. It was like promising a great gift to someone who had nothing, but not being able to get it for five years.

To her, it didn't matter when it would happen, just that it did.

Mr. Todd walked in, ready to glare at Mrs. Lovett and force her out of his favorite chair if necessary, but stopped in mid-glare. As he stepped in front of her, he saw she was sleeping, her peaceful breathing in and out in a steady motion.

He was confused. Did she really sleep?

She was always baking pies, talking to him, scolding him, and all together annoying him.

Did she really sleep?

He couldn't really explain his thoughts, but the fact was, she was always there. Whenever he needed her, whenever he didn't need her.

Sweeney Todd sat on the floor, staring at Mrs. Lovett, not realizing his breathing had slowed to match time with hers. An hour passed, and he was still there, watching her.

Another hour passed.

And another.

And another.

And another.

"Mum, it's time to open up the shop!"

Mrs. Lovett woke up with a start, startling Mr. Todd, him jumping up and smacking his head into hers.

She groaned and he growled.

"I'm sorry, luv. Shoulda noticed you were there. Wot were ya doin' 'ere anyway?"

Mr. Todd glared at her.

"Watch where you're goin' next time." He growled, stomping off.

Mrs. Lovett smiled.

Perhaps by the sea would not be that far away.

That was so fun! As promised virtual cookies and milk to good reviewers! Which will happen. The reviews I mean. I usually don't like Sweenett, but I thought this idea was kinda cute, so I wrote! It was kinda creepy that he was staring at Mrs. Lovett like that. Then again, it is Johnny Depp.
