Hi guys! As promised, here is the first chapter of my new story! Again, I am really sorry that I discontinued A Not-So-Classic Tale of Cute Nerd vs Jock. I just didn't plan it and nothing worked out. I just didn't know what to expect, since it was my first fanfic. I will leave it up though. I'm keeping some of the ideas for this, but not all. I hope you enjoy it! There isn't much dialogue since I still am working on honing my skills. I am pretty sure that Annabeth's stepmom is Helen, but if it isn't, tell me. I don't want anything to be wrong. Also, updating schedule will still be on Sundays unless you guys want otherwise.
Disclaimer: I wish I didn't have to say this but… I DON'T OWN POJ OK? HAPPY NOW?
Annabeth rolled out of bed with a groan. First day of school. Oh, joy. She stumbled toward the bathroom and turned on the shower. She took off her pj's and stepped in the hot water. It woke her up and rejuvenated her. When she was done, she wrapped herself in a towel and walked toward her closet.
Rifling through the clothes she settled on a white shirt with lace at the bottom, a pair of skinny jeans, and a grey waterfall cardigan with chambray slip-on Vans. Helen could yell at her all she wanted, but Annabeth was not wearing a short skirt and heels. She quickly put in her contacts, brushed her teeth and hair, and rushed down the stairs.
Sliding into her spot at the peninsula, she greeted Matthew and Bobby. The twins were too busy wolfing down bacon to answer. Her dad had already left for work, and Helen was probably getting ready to go to the law firm she worked at. After she finished eating, she got up and rushed out the door.
She slid into her car, and Audi Q5, and drove to school. Since she lived on the outskirts of New York, it took a little over 15 minutes to get to her school. Half-Blood High. It was one of the best schools in the country, and Annabeth had gotten in for her superb grades. A full scholarship; she was very proud of herself. She slid out of her car and slowly walked through the glass double doors.
Since she was new, she had to go to the office to get her schedule and such. As quietly as she could, she walked to the administrative office. Inside, she was greeted by Mr. Brunner who was the activities director at the school, whatever that meant. He told her to wait for one minute while he looked for her file. Who files things anymore?
Annabeth sat in a chair by the door and waited. While she sat there, she pulled out her iPad Pro, rose gold Beats and Apple pencil to sketch a building. Her parents had the money to get her nice things occasionally, but they were never around which made Annabeth feel neglected.
When she grew up, she wanted to be an architect. She wanted to build something permanent, unlike her dad's love for her. Helen was nice enough when her dad was there, but when Frederick was gone she was horrible to Annabeth. Annabeth sighed and focused on her design.
After a few minutes, Chiron found her file. As Annabeth tucked the iPad into its grey leather case, a group of boys filed out of the principal's office. Annabeth didn't notice them since her headphones were still blasting music and almost bumped into one of them. She looked up and her breath was taken away. His eyes were the most breathtaking sea green she had ever seen. She could have stared at them forever if she was allowed to. Not wanting to be weird, she turned away pulling off her headphones. Muttering an apology she grabbed her schedule from Mr. Brunner with a quiet "Thank you." She rushed out of the office without another word.
Rushing to her locker, she breathed deeply. She couldn't process anything that just happened. Sighing, she opened the envelope with her papers on it.

Despite her already horrible day, Annabeth smiled as she read her schedule. She got to have her favorite class, Greek and Latin, first. PE was last, which meant she didn't have to go around sweaty the whole day. She got all AP classes, other than the classes that didn't have AP classes, which she was proud of. Pretty good schedule, even though she suspected it was like this because 1: she was new and 2: her parents were like celebrities to the school.
Frederick Chase had, like his daughter, gone to Half-Blood on a scholarship. He had been in AP classes and had gotten top grades. He had gotten the certificate of excellence and had been salutatorian. He had gone to Columbia for history and was now a history teacher there. His name was on the wall of outstanding students. But he was very proud of his daughter, who had now surpassed him.
Annabeth had a 180 IQ and a 5.6 GPA. She had taken 10th-grade everything (math, science, ELA) in 7th grade. She had received multiple awards for outstanding scholarship, which were now framed and hanging on her walls. And by multiple, multiple meaning in the hundreds. She was on track to be the valedictorian at HBH and had already received a scholarship to Columbia for architecture (Let's us pretend that Columbia has the best architecture program in the world for the sake of the story, shall we?) among other schools.
Annabeth's intelligence may have also come from her mother. Athena Olympian had also gone to HBH (did Annabeth's whole family go there?), and she had met Frederick there. Athena, like her namesake, was very intelligent. She had been the slightest bit ahead of Annabeth, with a 190 IQ and 5.8 GPA. She was the one who had gotten valedictorian the same year Annabeth's dad had gotten salutatorian. She had founded Athena Corporation, specializing in a little bit of everything. The main focuses there, though, were education and the arts. Athena supported her daughter but was rarely around to show it.
Annabeth sighed and opened her locker. Leaving her Science and ELA textbooks, she grabbed her Math, History, and Greek/Latin ones, along with her notebooks. She would come back later for the Science and ELA books since her locker was on the way to those classes.
She closed her locker, spun the lock and walked to Homeroom. She could feel people's eyes on her, and she could hear them whispering. Probably something along the lines of "OMG she's so ugly" or "What's she doing here?" She just tuned them out and walked faster to homeroom.
Once she got there, she plopped down in a seat in the 3rd row. She took out her iPad yet again, along with her headphones and Apple Pencil since she was 15 minutes early. Blasting her music so that she couldn't hear people whispering about her, she sketched. The building was as tall as a skyscraper and looked like a more modern version of the Transamerica building (Search it up, it's a real thing). She was so distracted that she didn't notice the girls sliding into seats next to her.
One girl, with kaleidoscope eyes and choppy brown hair, waved her hand in front of Annabeth's face. Annabeth was so surprised that she dropped her pencil. She quickly took off her headphones and picked up her pencil. Looking at the girl who had waved her hand, she meekly said, "What do you want?" The girl laughed.
She was really pretty and was wearing a pair of jeans, a thin sweater, and calf-high leather boots. She simply said, "Well, we want to be friends with you." At we, Annabeth's face contorted into one of confusion. She turned around and saw a girl in black jeans, combat boots, a shirt that had a Barbie doll's head with an arrow in it that said "Death to Barbie" and a black leather jacket. She had short black hair and electrifying black eyes. She gave Annabeth a smile that looked more like a smirk.
Annabeth could tell that these girls were what was considered "popular." Why would they want to be friends with her? So, she asked them "Why would you want to be my friend?" The girl with black hair laughed. "You seem like a good person. We wouldn't want you to join the wrong group would we?" Annabeth was stunned. She actually had someone who cared for her, even though they barely knew her. But what if they were the wrong group?
"You know what? Screw this. I would love to be your friend." With that, the girl with choppy brown hair squealed. "OMG yay! I'm Piper McLean, and she's Thalia Grace. I already know that you're Annabeth." Annabeth smiled and then winced. Piper had a tight grip. Thankfully, she was released. Sadly though, she was dragged (roughly) to Piper and Thalia's group of friends. She grabbed her stuff and shoved it into her blue backpack. When she caught her breath, she looked up. Piper and Thalia introduced her to their friends AKA the popular group.
Jason Grace was Thalia's brother, which was hard to see because he had blond hair. They both had the same blue eyes, which was the only you could tell they were related. Thals only wore black it seemed, while Jason was a true preppy with sweaters and jeans. He also happened to be Piper's boyfriend.
Nico Di Angelo had the same style as Thalia, which was totally appropriate since they were dating. He looked more emo though. He had black hair and olive skin, and eyes so dark brown they were basically black. Annabeth noticed that Thalia looked more relaxed around him.
Hazel Levesque was Nico's step-sister. She had curly brown hair and eyes that looked like molten gold. She was from New Orleans but had moved a lot before settling in New York. She had lived in California for a few years, something she shared with Annabeth. It was there she met Frank, who was now her boyfriend.
Frank Zhang was big and burly, but his face made him look like a little boy. Everyone called him "babyface." Even though he looked really tough, he really was just like a panda: soft and gentle, especially with Hazel. Annabeth liked him right away.
Leo Valdez looked like a Latino Santa's elf. He had elf ears and had a mischevious glint in his eye. His hands were constantly doing something, tapping on the table or fiddling with his jacket. Annabeth made a mental note to never leave anything of hers that could be taken apart around him.
The last one made her gasp. It was the same boy she had run into earlier. Piper introduced him as Percy Jackson, and apparently, he was Thalia and Jason's cousin. His green eyes danced and Annabeth could literally see the ocean in them. His black hair was messy under his beanie. He was wearing blue jeans, a white shirt that hugged his body (6-pack! Squeal! (Note the sarcasm)), a black jacket and black slip-on Vans. He smirked at her and Annabeth rolled her eyes. They all talked for a little, and then the teacher came in. Thus began Annabeth's first day at HBH.
What do you think? It was really long, and I hope the other chapters are as long. Again, I apologize for the lack of dialogue. If Annabeth's step-mom isn't Helen, make sure to tell me. Thanks for reading, and review! See you next Sunday (hopefully)!
