A/N: Loosely based off of The Boys Next Door by Jennifer Echols

I stepped onto the boat and put on my life vest. It was the first day of summer, which meant that it was time to start work at the Jonas Marina. Maybe I should

explain. My name is Miley Stewart and I'm 15 years old, but my birthday's coming up soon. I live in Alabama with my brother, Jackson, and my dad, Robbie. My

mother died when I was in the sixth grade. She was hit head on by a drunk driver. I live right on the lake. Well, not on the lake, but you know what I mean. I

also live right next door to the Jonas family. Paul and Denise Jonas have all sons and no daughters. Kevin's the oldest, 18 year old Joe's the middle child, and 15

year old Nick's the youngest (technically their 7 year old brother Frankie is, but he doesn't really hang around much with us). They are really my brother's friends.

Well, Joe and Kevin are. Nick is more of a friend to me, but only in the summer. We don't see each other at school because he's in all these advanced classes.

You'd think he could walk 100 yards to see me every once in a while, but no. Anyways, back to my life story. Their family owns the Jonas Marina. I work there in

the summer to pick up some extra cash. There is also the infamous ulterior motive; to get Joe Jonas to ask me out. The only problem, is that Joe and Nick hate

each other. They are constantly fighting over the most trivial things. Even if the fights got bad, you wouldn't expect family to hit family, would you? If you said

you weren't expecting them to hit each other, you just failed the test. They try to hide it as much as they can from their mother. You know, only hitting where

clothes are covering. Never in the face. My job when they get into these wrestling matches is to threaten to tell their mother and get them in trouble. I know it

sounds like I'm threatening to tattle on them, but it works. Plus, they know that I would never actually tell their parents. Anyways, back to Joe. since he's three

years older than me, he's only ever thought of me as his little sister. That's all changing this summer. I'm more of a tomboy, you see. I love wakeboarding and

waterskiing. I'm also a bit of a slob. Okay I'm a major slob, but that's not the point. The point is that I'm going to change. By my 16th birthday (in two weeks!) I

will get Joe to notice me. Today is when I start my transformation. I have been watching What Not to Wear all school year, and I've been updating my wardrobe

to a more girly style. I've also bought a bikini to wear while I'm wakeboarding. I usually wear tankinis and one peices, because wasn't born with the rockin' bod

I had now. You know how in middle school, all the boys made fun of the flat-chested girls? That flat-chested girl was me. Now that I' almost 16, it's time for

Stage 1: The Revealing, to begin.
