show me what's on your mind (so i'm gonna love you better)

A.N: Hi all! Three name changes and I'm back with vengeance! School and life caught up to me (it still is lbr) but I wanted to get back into some semblance of normality by writing about my faves. So here we are! The title of this story is taken from my favourite song in the world - Man x Woman by Full Crate and Mar.

A.N: I don't own The Flash, and I don't own Man x Woman.

On the rooftop, Barry and Iris were free to be just that - Barry and Iris.

They sat on the ledge, watching the city below them. Iris' head was leaning on Barry's shoulder, and his arm was around her waist. The quiet night held peace, as if all was well, as if there wasn't another universe being terrorized, as if there wasn't a strain in the family between the biological and prodigal sons.

"What was I like?" Iris asked, breaking the silence after a comfortable fifteen minutes. Barry cast his mind back to the sepia tones of Earth-2, the lazy summer breeze that ripped through the city, and the long pant-suit that Iris West-Allen wore before she shoved him against the wall. He blushed.

"She was strong-minded, very independent and hard-working. Pretty much like you. But she didn't wear her heart on her sleeve, and she was the crime-fighter of the family," he said, but even as his mouth moved to describe Iris' Earth-2 counterpart, his mind wandered to the pink bra she had worn underneath the black blouse, the way her cleavage was just enough for his hands to cup - had he been given the opportunity. He willed his mind (and his dick) away from those thoughts as Iris laughed at his description.

"What were we like?" She said suddenly, turning to look at him fully. Barry's expression dropped to one of pensiveness as he considered this.

"Passionately in love," was his only response. He watched her watching him, saw how her eyes lit up at the thought and wanted so badly to read her thoughts. His eyes then flickered down to her lips and how she moistened them slightly, and wondered if she thought of them together-together, the way he had been.

Iris thought about his answer, and contemplated asking if he had experienced that passion first-hand, but her belly churned at thought, even though it was herself that she was essentially jealous of. Iris West-Allen had her own Barry, and that wasn't the man that sat on the ledge of Jitters rooftop that was destined to stop Zoom.

But that was a worry for another day. Iris instead voiced one last question, hoping that she could get some insight into how he truly felt about their counterparts being married (the way he told her how he missed Patty reminded her of how much things had changed - it used to be her own name that was said with such caress, not the woman that found out his alter-ego and still left).

"Did you wish it was real?" She said, her voice hesitant and small. She heard Barry's breath catch and when he turned to her, his eyes were widened - she couldn't quite place the emotion behind them.

"Do you?" He said in response, trying to hide the sudden rise of hope that had filled his body in such a delicious way, and the increased in his heartbeat - thank god he wasn't in his Flash suit.

Iris bit her lip and said nothing.

I realize I left it on quite an ambiguous ending but I figured it would be fun for you all to fill in the missing gaps :) Hopefully I can put out more stories, but no promises!
