Checkmate

Ten years, ten years ago America reached its darkest hour

A city hurled into turmoil by razor wings

A Country mourning, I would like to think, with the entire world

Towers as great as the castles of Lords fell like fragile glass

A geometric place of Justice pushed in the mud

The Dead filled out thoughts, the Survivors our arms, and Both our hearts

Our schools threatened, students scared to death and back

Bin Laden, in a game of terrorism, you held us in a check

Now we have made out move, that key Sunday night

Checkmate Bin Laden, Checkmate

True, the War is not over but this step is great

There is Hope for the damage You caused

These wounds will heal, but they will scar

For we took a vow for all Americans and all people

We will never forget

Never forget the rain of blood You caused in Ninety Countries

Never forget those Three-Thousand Lives You ended so violently

So wherever You are in death,

Know Your work will be scorned, but remembered

This dark time is not over but the light at the end of the tunnel is there now

We will continue to step toward it,

To achieve peace and Justice for all
