Chink.
At the sound of metal falling to the dirt, Minato turned around.
Relief was a gentle rain as he saw Kakashi kneeling on the ground and picking up his headband, releasing a solemn sigh as he did.
Minato smiled.
Seems he's been thinking again.
Minato hummed a little as he glided towards Kakashi. Unaware of his sensei's motions, Kakashi reached behind his head to retie his headband. He jabbed himself in the eye with the knuckle of his index finger.
It's a wonder why he keeps that eye closed.
Kakashi winced and grunted, the fabric of his headband slipping from his fingers. He fumbled his hands through the air for it, only to find that a larger, tanner hand was holding it out to him.
"Here, Kakashi," said Minato, in a voice as genial as a breeze. Kakashi raised his hand to take the headband. All he could see was his sensei's shoulder, something of which Kakashi's lips barely touched the cloth of.
"And…there," Minato sung as he secured the knot of the headband.
Kakashi's face pinked, high in his cheekbones as he bowed his head almost in apology. "Thank you, sensei."
"Nothing of it," Minato smiled, brushing Kakashi's cheek with his own and then caressing his fingers along the same area. Without awaiting any response from Kakashi, or any recognition of what he did, Minato straightened, twirled around, and strode away.
Kakashi's face radiated heat. To anyone else, it would have seemed as nothing but a kindness from sensei to student to tie his headband on for him. Kakashi stood there, unblinking and observing as his sensei and Hokage graced the ground with his strides.
It was the sun's turn to be graced by Minato as he stopped and turned around, his cloak swirling about his feet, the white luminescent in the sun. His golden hair caught any kind of light and haloed his head, with little stars tipping the Hokage's eyelashes. Anyone who saw him would see him as a beautiful man. The words in Minato's eyes of pale color asked, where is my Kakashi? The name something he had been keen on calling the young Jonin.
Kakashi bowed his eyes, applying his own grace to the earth as he closed the distance between he and his sensei. Minato flashed him a smile and waited until the boy was closer to begin his stroll down the streets of Konoha anew.
Passerby watched them and their grace, calling the pair, "Hokage-sama and his Jonin-kun."
Glancing at his Hokage from the corner of his eye, Kakashi could agree that that was one way of putting it.
