Now Gone By Has A Day

Prologue - A Loner's Life

Now gone by has a day,

And I've lost my way,

Memories of a soldier,

Will grow as you get older.

Heero sat without a word to anyone or anything. Never once did he look up from the computer screen sitting before him. His hands danced across the keyboard none-stop, creating a click, click rhythm that rang through the still, dark room. A few times he paused, if only to continue on again soon afterwards.

It was late at night and he didn't seem to take any notice to this very fact. He just worked, tirelessly. The boy was merely a thing in the darkness that couldn't find any rest as a blue flickering light played on his face, making it glow. Those eyes staring, always staring without barely even a blink now and then. But there was something in that pale face, something that was hard to describe. A form of pure concentration. A cold icy blank stare. Some hidden depth that couldn't be reached by just looking. You had to know what was going on in the inside to understand what was going on, on the outside. Yet it seemed impossible.

The teenager was lost to the world around him but at the same time he was completely alert to anything that happened. It seemed strange that he could be both at the same time. Yet it was possible for him. All that training he had gone through. Preparing to be an assassin under the care of Odin. Dr. J only heightening his already deadly skills by killing off most of his humanity. Pain seemed to be a distant memory. Death something that could be overcome time and time again. Nothing seemed to be hard for the so called Perfect Soldier.

Yet it had taken only one person to change everything. Someone who looked past the stone exterior that he had built up around himself and his heart which were both guarded with a great passion. It seemed that no one would have gotten inside but that one determined girl had done it. The impossible became possible as she stood up for what she believed in without any hesitance.

His world came crashing in. The haunting began and the torment never ended. What once had been his freedom was now his nightmarish prison. She was gone, dead and there was nothing left for him. He had failed to protect her and now he had to live with his mistake.
