Unexpected Savior

I do not own Sailor Moon. However, Christmas is coming up ......

I helped save the world the tonight.
Sounds like a rash statement, doesn't it? But I helped the Sailor Scouts, who in turn saved the day, so I guess that qualifies for an assist.
I was walking home from the grocery store. Such a nice, mundane task to precede that event. But walking through the park, I saw the Scouts fighting one of their usual monsters. I'd heard about the Scouts and their remarkable powers, but this was something amazing to see.
The one in green, Sailor Jupiter I later learned, yelled, "Sparkling Wide Pressure!" which made absolutely no sense to me. Then a ball of lightning gathered in her hand, which she flung at the monster. It hit hard, but not hard enough to stop it. The thing rammed Jupiter into a tree, knocking her out. The others gasped and rushed over to help her, but she was out cold.
Sailor Mars yelled something to throw a giant fireball at the thing, but it easily dodged the flame. It then shot out some weird red rings that hit Mars in the stomach and sent her flying. Another Scout down.
It then sped toward Sailor Moon, the leader of the group. I recognized her by her unusual hair. The monster was about to hit her when a rose struck the ground in front of it. Sailor Moon cried out, "Tuxedo Mask! You came!" Ah, so this was the other half of the famous couple. He was good-looking under that mask, I could tell. Those two would make some cute children if they ever got the notion.
He made a speech about truth and justice and such, but when he was done the monster just shot some of those red rings at him, taking him out. Moon wailed when he hit the ground.
Venus tried an attack, to no avail. It peeled out after her and took her down, too. Without slowing down, it went after Sailor Moon. She just stared like a rabbit in the headlights of an oncoming car.
I couldn't just stand there and do nothing. I reached in my grocery bag, pulled out an apple, and beaned the monster a good one on the head. It stopped, seeing red, and shot those rings at me. The caught me in the legs. I went down hard, couldn't get back up, but I was awake.
Sailor Moon ran over to see if I was OK. She saw my legs, nearly cried and her hand went to the locket on her chest. I knew what she was thinking, but I had also heard about the cost of using what was inside it. Even if my legs were now hamburger, she couldn't risk using it.
"Touch that crystal, Serena, and I tell everyone why you're so tired all the time."
She gasped again, saying "You know?" I just managed to groan out, "Of course, you--" before Mercury's shout drowned me out. Five feet behind us, the monster was encased in a block of ice.
Sailor Moon looked grim, then shouted out yet another nonsense phrase. A wave of pink and white washed over everything. The monster vaporized, including the ice it was locked in.
The white whatever-it-was woke up the other Scouts and Tuxedo Mask, and also healed my legs. Whatever that stuff was, I hope they market it soon.
But Sailor Moon just looked at me, finally seeing my face unpanicked. Then she turned to go, gathering her friends around her before leaving. She turned to me just before disappearing into the night.
"By the way, thanks, Dad for the help. See you in the morning."
I walked home with my groceries and went to bed.
