Chapter 1 The Boys Are Back In Town
(January 1990)
"Class we have a new student joining us this year" Ms Frizzle announced
The class all started chattering eagerly awaiting the new kid"
"Say hello to my nephew Kierain Geaney" Miss Frizzle said opening the door at which point Kierain wheeled inside
A few of the students muttered hi while the rest just giggled
"Hey look he comes with his own car!" Carlos joked
"CARLOS!" The class said in unison
Kierain marched straight over to Carlos and got in his face
"Got a problem with disabled people buddy boy?" Kierain said
"N-no sir" Carlos stammered
Kierain backed off
"Whoa that's the first time anyone's ever called Carlos out on his bad jokes" Arnold said
"Please find a seat Kierain" Ms Frizzle asked
"Okay" Kierain said and found a seat next to Arnold
As the morning turned into afternoon Ms Frizzle said the words Arnold had been dreading "Field Trip"
"whoa, whoa hold it wait a second!" Kierain said "How am I supposed to fit my wheelchair on that tiny bus?"
"Uhhhh" a few kids said in unison
"Oh not THIS again" Kierain said getting a bit annoyed
"According to my research" D.A. Said in her matter of fact way "the bus was not designed for wheelchairs"
"But we can't leave him behind what if Carlos makes another joke" Ralphie teased
Carlos shot Raphine a deathly stare
"Oh well if The Frizz's nephew can't come then we shouldn't go it wouldn't be fair" Arnold said hopefully
"Yeah" Ralphie agreed
"Liz take them away" Ms Frizzle commanded
"Aww I knew I should've stayed home today" Arnold said
