Chapter One
A heavy mist clung to the trees as though holding on for dear life. Silence reigned over the leafy forest, not a rustle broke the silence. All that could be hard was quiet precipitation from the mist.
Tinsley crept quietly forward across the forest floor, her eyes wide with awareness. A rustle to her right drew her attention, quickly she swiveled her head. A darkened figure emerged; Tinsley sucked in her breath with anticipation and rose to her feet awaiting the worst. He stepped into the light from the dark of the trees. Now illuminated she could see his ice stone cold features with hair the color of ravens that flipped into his steel vibrant green eyes. A sly smirk crossed his face at the sight of Tinsley's wild expression with dirt smudged face and leaf entangled mane of fiery hair that surrounded her face like flames.
"Tinsley." Heath said with a nonchalant bow. His menacing smile evaporated instantly, a transformation contorted his face. His eyes flashed daggers, and his mouth curved into a malicious grin.
"You have been missed greatly."
"Heath, I thought I already dealt with you years ago." Tinsley said slightly annoyed.
"Tinsley, Tinsley, Tinsley. I now have powers now that you have known nothing about." Heath said coyly. He advanced a slow even step forward never losing eye contact. Tinsley cursed herself when she took an involuntary step backward, she groped for her scythe.
"Honestly, I wouldn't suggest that." he replied with a nod towards her fumbling hands, his eyes gleamed with something, something that oddly resembled power.
"What do you want Heath?" Tinsley tried to act bored, she was afraid it didn't quite sound that way though—quite the opposite she was afraid.
Heath seemed to ponder this question as if trying to find the perfect word.
"Revenge." Was all he said before he leapt into the air at her like a vulture upon the dead, or the weak? Tinsley sidestepped his attempt as she did so her body rustled the forever dying blackberry bramble behind her. He landed crouched down, at the sound his head turned in an inhumanly fashion and stared at her with gleaming red eyes.
