London Town Waltz – A Sherlock lyrical fanfiction
Disclaimer: I do not own Sherlock, or the original tune and lyrics of 'Kentish Town Waltz' by the oh-so-rather-amazing Imelda May
Dedication: To SunshineBunny, because she NEEDS to start reading fanfiction, and to whichever cosmic force gives me the strength to not slap some of my 'dear darling friends' whenever I see them.
Summary: A re-write of 'Kentish Town Waltz' to suit a slightly altered version of Sherlock and John's dramatic escape from the police. Pretty sequential. Slash relationship mentioned. Happy fun times.
Translation: 'mo chroi' means 'my heart' in Irish
Do you remember, we chased around
From the Yard to Baker Street through London town
Only a housekeeper to our name
Couldn't pay our taxi fare, more to our shame
Fighting crime has its trials
The fights all night on the streets and inside
And those cases that lasted three weeks into four
And the dreaded assassins return to our door
But we live here together, talking every night
We keep it together and keep up the fight
And I love us, yes, I love you mo chroi
And we don't need anyone, just you and me
There is good for all the bad
There's happiness and there's pain
But you're the one to make it right
My heart you have found
Yeah, the key to my heart you have found
I watched the blue flash, then fade in the sun
A cool afternoon spent on the run
And I knew as I said, "Will you stay here in bed?"
That we'll love each other 'til the day we are dead
We've killed for each other and saved some lives
And we've both had to try
Yeah, we tried as well when our world went to Hell
And now we're holding holding it together as our tears dry
But we hide here together, for all the night
We keep it together and wait for the light
And I think that you might, yes you might love me
And I know that I love you mo chroi
There is good for all the bad
There's happiness and there's pain
But you're the one to make it right
My heart you have found
Yeah, the key to my heart you have found
Oh I know some things that you're hopeless at
And you notice what we all ignore
But it's when I see we're not perfect, you and me
It's then our love grows more and more
And they found us here together, at first light
We couldn't escape, try as we might
And now they've found us mo chroi
Why is he trying to frame you and me?
Ooh ooh
There is good for all the bad
There's happiness and there's pain
But we'll find a way to make it right
My heart you have found
Yeah, the key to my heart you have found.
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh.
The end
A.N. Well, there it is. I hope everyone's having a lovely time over this amazingly festive period of joy, relaxation and school holidays...oh, you all have homework and/or jobs too? It really reminds you that those long Winter evenings were just made for staying in by the fire and quietly stressing yourself to death over archaeology exam questions, literary criticism in Latin and in depth analysis of the portrayal of Odysseus in Homer's Odyssey. Sorry. Got a bit stressed there. :P Season's greetings, please, enjoy your life, hug a kitten, teach a canary to sing 'Surfin' Bird' and remember that every time you say "I give up" someone else says "Wow, what a great opportunity!".
