MSMF Prompt #61: Supernatural
All was quiet aboard the Super Robot. Still some days away from reaching Shuggazoom, the Super Robot flew along on auto pilot while the Hyperforce got some much needed rest.
"Hey, who put slimy...stuff...in my bed?" Chiro demanded. He glared at the five monkeys who were all relaxing in the Control Center.
"What slimy stuff?" Sparx asked, looking up from the game he was playing with Nova. She smiled and swiftly K.O.'ed his creature.
Chiro held up his blanket. "This!" It was dripping with green ooze.
"Wow, that looks just like the stuff in that Ghostbusters movie we watched," Otto said.
"That's preposterous, that was a fictional film, there is no such thing as ghosts!" Gibson declared.
"Oh yeah, brainstrain, then what's that?" Sparx pointed to a wispy shape near the ceiling. It was green and slightly potato-shaped.
"That does appear to be a ghost," Antauri said. "In fact, it looks very much like the one in the film, I believe it was dubbed --"
"Slimer!" Otto interrupted.
"So how are we going to get rid of him?" Nova asked. "Aaaaa, look out!!"
The green blob swooped down and before he could react, it had flown right through Sparx, leaving gibs of green goo behind. "Eeeewwww, that's disgusting," Sparx complained. "How am I going to get this stuff off?"
"I believe I have a suitable solvent," Gibson said, clicking through the cartridges in his cybovac drills.
"Um, any other options?" Sparx asked, backing away.
"Don't be silly, this won't hurt...much...now stand still," Gibson said, aiming at the other monkey.
Nova chuckled as Gibson hosed the slime off of Sparx. Then she noticed the ghost heading into the kitchen and followed it just in time to witness her dinner being devoured.
"That's it, you're going down ghost!" Nova activated her fists. "LADY TOMAHAWK!" She swung at the green blob but it moved too fast. "Hey, stay still when I'm destroying you!"
Gibson ran in behind her. "Nova, it's not a solid entity, that won't do anything but get you covered in slime!"
"Good, I can laugh while she gets her bath," Sparx grumbled. "What are we going to do? It's not like the Ghostbusters are a phone call away."
"I would have to study the film, perhaps I could reverse engineer one of their traps. It would take some time..." Gibson turned to head back into the Control Center. "Otto?"
Otto ran into the room, a bulky pack on his back and an odd-looking wand in his hands. "No, Ghostbusters!" He reached back and turned on the pack. "Where's the ghost?"
A gurgling sound came from the ceiling where the ghost was digesting its pilfered meal. Otto spotted it and pointed his wand upwards. "Here goes nothing!" A colorful beam of energy shot from the wand toward the ghost, freezing it midair. Otto gave a shout of delight. "Gibson, get the trap!"
"Where is it?" Gibson asked, looking around.
Sparx shook his hand. "You didn't pay attention, did you?" He plucked the trap off Otto's belt where it was dangling and slid it into the middle of the room. "Ready Otto?"
"Ready Sparx! Open it up!" Otto started guiding the ghost downward with the energy beam.
Sparx stepped on the pedal, causing the boxy trap to open up. Otto guided the ghost to right over the open trap. "Closing the trap!" Sparx said, stomping on the pedal again. Simultaneously, Otto turned off the energy beam as the ghost was sucked into the trap.
Gibson's jaw was hanging down to the floor. "Otto, when did you have time to create those devices?"
"I was bored, I made them a few days ago," Otto said. "You like?"
"Pretty cool!" Sparx said. "Just like in the movie!"
Otto blushed. "Thanks Sparx."
Gibson sighed. "You two never cease to amaze me," he muttered as he headed off into his lab.
