The King's son
Merciful, sweet, and mild
Hopeful, that one day,
The monsters would go free
From their underground prison
And they could live in peace.
A small child fell down
Down the mountain
Into the underground.
A human, no less
Why they had come here
No one would know
But there they were trapped
Alongside the monsters.
The king's son found them
Led them to his home
They became best friends
They became like siblings
The king and queen adopted
The young fallen child
The first human to ever fall down
The mountain over their heads.
Together the king's son and the child
Plotted to set the monsters free
The human poisoned themselves
And fell ill from the effects of a flower.
"You're our future!" begged the king
Pleading with them
Hoping they would survive
But alas, the child, fallen ill
Was fated to die.
Before they passed,
They held one wish
To see the golden flowers
Of their home once more.
But nothing could be done.
The king's son, in his grief
Absorbed the human's SOUL.
He became a powerful being
With the power to leave
His underground home
All it would take
Was six more SOULs
And then he could break the barrier
And everyone could be free.
The control over his body wasn't just his own
The human was the one
To carry their body across the barrier
And lay their body
On a bed of golden flowers
Cries rang out across the village
The people thought the king's son
A terrifying monster
Had killed their sweet child
The child urged the king's son
To fight back and destroy them all
He had the power to do it
But yet, he did not.
The humans attacked
The king's son only smiled
And took the body of their friend
Back home into the underground.
He was hurt badly
As he got home, he collapsed
And his dust spread across the garden.
The royal family had lost
Everything they had
All in one night.
War was declared.
All humans who fell down
Were to be killed
And their SOULs taken
To break the barrier
And end humanity.
The king's son was condemned
To live as a flower
With no SOUL, no emotions
No love at all.
But one special human
Who'd made many friends
With determination greater
Than that he'd been given
Would SAVE their friends
And in turn,
SAVE the king's son as well.
The king's son broke the barrier
For his newfound friend
He released the SOULs
Of the humans and every monster
So they could live a happy life.
The human comforted the king's son
In his last moments before returning
To a soulless flower form.
"Take care of Mom and Dad for me, okay?"
With the compassion of a human
He'd freed the monsters
And ensured the happiness of others
His original mission fulfilled.
The only thing left to fear
The only person to be afraid of
Was the final human
Who could reset everything
And start over again.
