Republic of Heaven
Tear stained face among shaky hands,
Reflect the loneliness, the solitude
A love once pure and young
Taken away.
The little time she had with him
But forever he will stay with her
In their special place, among the roses
Where birds fly free with their partners
But he cannot stay with her
A world separates their love
The daring move she made towards him
Realising the fruit of their love
Embracing, breathing, once together
Now apart.
One day each year
Midsummers day
They close in on their love
Never forgetting, always hoping
And never judging each others decision to part
As they both knew their forbidden love
Was only possible in the Republic of Heaven.
