Disclaimer: I do not own Vampire Diaries or the characters within it, I only own this unknown girl and the love Damon has for her. After watching a few youtube videos, I thought we should have a tender moment for Damon. I love him to bits, he's changed a lot since we first met him back in the pilot and I thought I'd write a little dedication to him.

He lay down beside her, watching her intently as she slept. She was so peaceful, so different from when she was awake. Her fiery attitude died away, her sassy smile lingered on her full red lips. Damon leant down and kissed her forehead as her chest rose and fell with each delicate breath, she was absolutely stunning and if she weren't human then she'd be perfect for him. He could honestly say that he had fallen for this beautiful girl, twenty one years old and in her prime. She had kept him on his toes for more than four years but it was time for him to move on, she understood that and let him go. Damon would never forget this moment, he didn't need to compel her or erase her memory for he knew he could trust her. If she ever needed him, all she ever needed to do was call to him with her heart.

He breathed in her delicate scent, it was imprinted in his mind and he knew that whenever he would breathe in the scent it would instantly remind him of her. She was special, he knew it. She was more precious than Katherine or Elena Gilbert and for years he had been looking for his own special one like Stefan had. He was now married with two adopted children and Katherine was dead. Wasn't it his time now, to be happy?

Sighing, Damon left one small kiss on the side of her mouth and stood. He knew he'd be back, he couldn't live without her and deep down he thought she knew that. Lingering in her window before climbing out into the dark night, he imprinted his mind with the way she looked, smelt and acted.

"This isn't goodbye, darling."

With those final words, he leapt from her bedroom window and out into the dark night of Christmas Eve. He'd be back when the time was right, he just had to go for now.
