PROLOGUE

I guess my definition of family isn't exactly the best to listen to. Growing up in Arizona, Charlie was never really around; it was usually just me and my mom.

I would spend summers going back and forth from moms and Forks. Looking back, I'm not sure why I always decided Arizona with mom was the place to be.

Environment, education, housing, occupation, what do they have to do with it? My definition isn't the best, I know, but where I am feels as if it's… right.

I have a father in Charlie and a friend in Carlisle.

I have two sisters who are nothing alike but would die for each other and those around them in a heartbeat (given that they could actually die… and have a heartbeat.)

I have a loving, clueless mother who lives 2000 miles away, and I have the ideal fairytale aunt figure in Esme, who puts shame to fairytale step-mothers everywhere.

I have the best frat-like brothers anyone could ever have; you know, the kind that break things with a football at the thanksgiving dinner.

I have the best friend anyone has ever and will ever have, Jacob Black. What's funny about Jake, is that his life revolves around my life, and my life's life.

Jacob Black would take a bullet for the same thing the love of my life and I live for; Renesmee.

So, like I say, I may not be the best person to hear this definition from, but I think this is how family's supposed to be.

Family means forever, and when you live forever…

You live for each other.
