The sound of the door creaking open and the pause of footsteps in the hall caused Spencer to look over his shoulder where to door was cracked about halfway and a face peered in, their eyes trying to adjust to the darkness of his bedroom. He rolled himself over underneath the sheets, finding no need for the duvet considering it was pooled at the end of his bed. Spencer couldn't help the gentle smile that spread across his face at his midnight visitor as they reached up and rubbed an eye sleepily.
"You can come in, you know…I'm not blind," Spencer said quietly. The walls weren't exactly paper thin, but it didn't take much to wake everyone else up, and there was no need to call any other attention to the boy who'd only just began to drag his feet towards Spencer's bed. He moved over a bit to make space for the other, lifting his eyebrows when the figure hesitated once they got to the edge of his bed.
"C'mon, Bry, there's plenty of space," Spencer murmured, lifting a hand to try to tame the wild blond mass he called hair. He gave up after awhile, but smiled again when Bryan crawled into bed next to him, remaining on the edge, away from where Spencer lay waiting.
Spencer sighed quietly to himself, reaching out to gather Bryan up into his arms and pull him towards his chest. "Can't sleep again, huh?" he murmured, knowing Bryan wouldn't answer with words so he waited for the confirming feeling of a nod against his night shirt. This exact nightly ritual had been going on about every night for several months. It was getting to the point where Spencer could set his watch by the times Bryan came into his bedroom at night.
"Insomnia?" Spencer murmured, reaching down in between the two of them to pull the stuffed bear up higher so it wasn't squished in between their stomachs, feeling Bryan's hands follow the thing up until Spencer let it go again. He pulled the sheets up over Bryan some more, moving a hand around to the back of Bryan's neck, lightly rubbing in circular motions there. He got another nod in response to his second question even if it was necessary. It wasn't exactly hard to tell that Bryan had insomnia problems…if he didn't, then he wouldn't be in Spencer's room most nights.
Spencer didn't say much of anything more, feeling Bryan relax more and more in his grip, cuddling seemingly closer as the moments went by. Bryan's arms were drawn up to his chest while Spencer's arms were looped around Bryan's smaller body. Spencer looked affectionately down at the boy in his arm, watching his eyes slip closed more and more as he continued with the light massage to the back of Bryan's neck. Eventually, Bryan was completely relaxed and teetering on the edge of sleep.
"Hey, Spence?"
Spencer looked down, having thought Bryan was asleep so he'd looked away for that brief moment in time. "Yeah?" he murmured, moving his head down to let his lips rest on top of Bryan's hair, pressing a kiss there as he waited for his answer.
"Love you," Bryan murmured, voice faint due to sleep taking over, his eyes slipping all the way closed and the quiet snoring being the only noise aside from Spencer's own light breathing as he smiled. He moved his head down to rest on the pillow more so he was comfortable, keeping Bryan close as he closed his eyes, the smile still there as he himself began to drift off. This was something he definitely looked forward to every night.
"Love you, too, Bry…Love you, too…"
