Of course Chase had to work late hours on Christmas Eve. His very first Christmas in America, too! House was off with his family, as were Cameron and Foreman but Chase, well, he needed the extra hours on his paycheck. Where Wilson was, he didn't know. He knew the man was roaming the hospital working his ass off but then again, that was yet another unknown wonder to the Aussie.

Sitting in the break room, he sighed, leaning forward so that one elbow rested against the tabletop and his chin rested in his hand. Christmas crosswords were his least favorite of the year. They were always filled with the same words each time: 'jingle bells', 'Santa Claus', 'Snow'!

"Boooring…" he groaned, nibbling ferociously on the end of his biro. He was stuck alone and the pen seemed to be his only ally. Well, that and the crossword book one of the nurses had given to him. (He always thought she fancied him and the fact that she knew he liked crossword puzzles proved it). Well, Wilson knew he liked crosswords and hardly ever saw him working one as well.

Chase dove into another puzzle, though, and continued to nibble on that poor pen, knowing within the next few minutes, he'd have it to its breaking point.

James happened to catch some off time and went to hunt down his Aussie the moment he got away. Sneaking into the break room, he saw his blonde working feverously on the new crossword and not to mention killing a pen.

Pulling a candy cane from his pocket, he slipped up behind the other and gently pulled the pen from Chase's lips, replacing it with the hard, minty candy. Chase looked up a little shocked and nearly pouted when the pen was pulled away, but tasting the candy, he instantly perked up. The blonde leaned back into the arms that soon pulled around his shoulders.

"Merry Christmas…" Wilson mumbled into Chase's hair, pressing a kiss to those softer-than-soft locks.

Chase smiled up at Wilson and didn't quite mind that his pen had been taken away or that he was stuck at work for Christmas Eve. Just that moment alone had made his first Christmas in America something beyond special. One Merry Christmas Indeed…
