Sango's eyes opened to darkness. After blinking a few times, she could see that sleep had left her for the night. She stretched and yawned- how she hated being deprived of much needed sleep. The demon slayer climbed out of bed, but felt a hand softly touch her own, pulling her back. She turned her attention back to the bed where Miroku was lying, wide awake, his dark eyes boring inquisitively into her dark ones.

"Can't sleep, huh?" he asked sleepily, his voice a bit hoarse, but barely above a whisper. She shook her head smiling a little.

"I just need to take a walk. I'll be back soon."

"I'll come with you," he said decisevely getting out of bed throwing on a dark blue robe over his shirtless self.

"You don't have to. Why don't you go back to-" but he shushed her with a finger to the lips.

"Wherever you go, I go," was his stubborn reply. She smiled softly, and shrugged, also putting on an overcoat. Together, the two made their way out of the house and into their garden which was their favorite place to walk- not only because of the delicious scents and gorgeous flowers, but because of the long pathway that circled around the property, always leading them away to a peaceful thoughtfulness.

"Nice night out, ne?" Sango nodded, watching the wind pick a few fallen petals off the stone walkway and cast them into the star- strewn sky. A half- moon was blissfully shining over them, caresing everything it touched with a soft, silvery light. I could not have been a more peaceful, serene night for a walk, for the air was warm and the stars watched silently over them. It was a night quite unlike the ones they had whilst Naraku was still alive.

Back then, they would have had to sleep on the cold, hard ground while the wind blew in all directions, chilling them. During those nights, Sango was kept restless by endless worrying about Kohaku, her brother whom Naraku had captured, and Miroku, and if he would ever get the Kazana on his hand removed forever.

Now, however, everyone was safe, none were sleeping on hard ground (or at least, not that she was aware of) and she and Miroku were not only happily married but also expecting. Sango smiled to herself somewhat nervously. She hadn't told Miroku yet. She supposed that it was this worry that kept her from sleep now. Miroku noticed this nervous smile.

"What could that smile possibly be for?" he asked her curiously, putting an arm around her. Sango bit her lip, anxiety increasing, despite the calming fragrances coming from all around her. Well, I have to tell him sometime, right? Where else would feel more right than here? She thought, her heart racing.

"Miroku, there's something… I need to tell you…"

"What is it? Are you all right?" Miroku now looked worried.

"Um, yes, actually, but, I… am…" she whispered the last word in his ear. Miroku felt his eyes widen as he looked at her in awe.

"You mean…" he pointed to her as she nodded tentatively. He smiled, leaned forward, and kissed her fully on the lips. I knew I always loved this garden… Sango thought to herself before her last thought was wiped clean by the intensity of Miroku's kiss.
