SR388, last refuge of the metroids, a spcies that once inhabited hundreds
of planets as a sentient specices, now reduced to a pathetic energy sucking
life-form. of course, the metroids remember their heritage clearly, and
take pride in it, hopefully one day restoring themselves to their former
glory.
In the dense jungle of the surface, a metroid woke. Shaking it's fangs as if it was yawning, it whirled around, hoping its sensors would pick up a meal. Ping!Ping! like radar, its brain picked up an X parasite nearby.... Zooming through the air, the metroid raced through the dense brush, its hunger driving it faster and faster, higher and higher into the air.
Light! It had cleared the canopy, and there was the X. squirming and hungry for solar nourishment, it soaked up the rays of the sun, not even noticing its predator racing towards it. Too easy, the metroid thought, as it suddenly sprang on the X. One of its fangs pierced the X right in the middle. Within moments, the writhing mass of gelatine flesh was sucked in, a pathetic meal. The metroid whirled around once more, trying to detect any more X. But there were none, the woudlnt be coming out for a few more hours.
The metroid went back into the forest, zooming along, any creatures it detected immediatley fled into hole and under rocks. It may no longer be one of the rulers of space, but it was still a master of this world.
Ping! Ping! A hit! The metroid saw a flash of white and black, making out a picture of some strange creature walking towards it position. It was much bigger than anything on SR388. Standing more than 5 feet tall, it was the biggest thing the metroid had ever detected. And it would make a fine meal, too
The metroid once again took up speed, and lached itself onto the creature. AS it sucked the energy, the metroid grew larger and larger, oblivious to the screams of the thing. AS if it would have heard the screams anyway, as metroids have no ears. But, this meant that, in the midst of the flood of energy, the metroid didn't notice the other creature sneaking up behind it, freezing it suddenly. The metroid let go, frozen solid, and inflated like a balloon. The creature picked it up and smiled. It was a space pirate, and it would be happy to show its superiors the catch it had just made....
