I looked out at the endless ocean of stars surrounding the Dark Aster, the ship which belonged to my love, Ronan the Accuser. He craved power, something my company seemed to lack. I didn't even know if he truly loved me or not. I loved him, yes, with all of my heart. There was never a doubt that I loved him. This plan of his to destroy Xandar and recapture the orb for Thanos had taken my place. I knew it all along, and I still loved him through all of the madness and the power.
"Cheyenne!" the booming voice of Ronan carried throughout the grand hall of his ship. I turned from the beautiful stars to see him watching me from his throne, and I quivered. "Yes, Ronan?" I called from where I stood. I dared not enrage him. He had a terrible temper which I didn't care to invoke.
He glared violently at me. "Come here, my dear. I need to see your face while I am addressing you." I carefully crossed the colossal room to stand in front of him. Ronan stood up swiftly and raised my chin to meet his amazing violet eyes. "Something is wrong, Cheyenne. I know. Do not hide anything from me. It will not work. I will find out. Tell me the truth, my dear. Why are you avoiding my gaze? What troubles you?"
I snatched my chin out of his grip. His eyes flashed dangerously at me. I looked down at the ship's floor, ashamed. "Forgive me, my lord Ronan. I would never defy you. I've just fallen in love with you and I don't want to stand in the way of your destiny. I could never allow you to sacrifice such extraordinary plans for me. I love you too much."
Ronan looked extremely taken aback for a moment, but regained his composure quickly. He sighed heavily, the rumbling sound of his breath filling the grandiose hall as the air fleeted from his lungs. "You are the most important thing in my life, Cheyenne. I intended for you to rule at my side as soon as the orb was in my possession and Xandar and Thanos were destroyed...I love you as well."
