When Mikasa arrived back to the apartment after a long day at work, one thing she didn't expect to see was the sight of her long-time house-mate looking increasingly worried while scrutinizing herself in the mirror.
"Annie... what are you doing?"
Said girl whipped round, obviously caught unaware, her usually half-lidded eyes wide open. Realizing who the 'intruder' was, she dropped her fighting stance and fell back into a slouch.
"Oh, it's just you." she mumbled, rolling her shoulders and walking over to the couch, though still looking pre-occupied.
"Glad to know you care about me." Mikasa deadpanned, as she set down her work bag and flopped onto the couch too, loosening her tie.
They sat in silence for a while, both wrapped in their own thoughts, the taller going over the day's events - trying to keep Eren out of trouble, avoiding the constantly hungover Levi, listening to the mind-bending philosophies constantly pouring from Armin's brain, while still attempting to strike up business deals with the ever-elusive Pixis. Coming out of her mind for a moment, Mikasa noticed slight movement in the periphery of her vision. Annie was running her index and middle fingers up and down her nose, from the tip to the bridge and back again, while frowning at the blank television. This bugged Mikasa.
"You're being weird." she stated, in her I'm-just-letting-you-know-so-only-be-slightly-offended tone of voice.
The blonde seemed to snap out of some sort of reverie, "Sorry."
Mikasa shook her head, "That's even weirder, Annie Leonhardt doesn't apologize to anyone."
There was silence for half a minute. Half a very strange minute.
"Is my nose... odd?"
Mikasa blinked. Well, that was unexpected.
"Where'd you get that idea?"
Annie huffed, "Some noisy dickheads at the café this morning."
The other girl decided to venture further, "And what were their noses like?"
The blonde frowned, not sure where her house-mate was going with this, but couldn't really complain since she herself had brought it up.
"Just... straight, I guess." she replied.
Mikasa sighed and heaved herself up, stretching her back before walking over to Annie and bending down to the other girl's level, like she was scolding a child.
"My nose," she began, running a finger down it, "is like a playground slide. Your nose, is like a waterfall."
She drew the hooked outline in the air.
"Those dumbasses' noses were just straight, how dull, how predictable. If anything, your's is the most exciting."
She then walked off, toward the kitchen unit, with Annie watching her go, wondering exactly how shit-faced Mikasa was.
"But yeah, your nose is kinda odd."
AN: This is a piece of absolute crap, I shouldn't be allowed out of my room for fear of corrupting the human race. Hah, I am genuinely confused at my own behaviour. Hope you all have a nice year!
