Genre: Romance, Drama
Characters: Hermione Granger, Lucius Malfoy
By: Airyckah
Summary: Not DH compliant. This is the tale of Hermione Granger and Lucius Malfoy, and the story of how the entire world, muggle and Wizarding alike, was nearly thrown into darkness.
Author's Note: While this is not DH compliant, and is OotP compliant, there is a change: Lucius Malfoy did not get caught in the Ministry at the end of the book – he escaped, as did Dolohov, and so Lucius Malfoy is still free. Also HBP compliant.
Prologue
"Hermione Jane Granger. You are on trial before the Wizengamot under charges of treason, fraternization with wanted persons, and espionage. You have also been accused of being a follower of You-Know-Who. How do you plead to these charges?"
"Not guilty on the counts of treason, espionage, and I dispute the accusations of following the Dark Lord."
"And as for the charges of fraternization with wanted persons?"
"I admit that I have been in contact with one Severus Snape after the murder of Professor Albus Dumbledore. But I do not understand those accusations, for we all know now how that truly went. We all know he was properly on the side of the Dark Lord - he was on your side this entire time, completely loyal to Dumbledore, and did everything that Dumbledore asked of him."
"What type of contact?"
"Only owls. I had many questions for him concerning familial matters. He was the one who helped with my relocation."
"And Miss Granger, could you please show your arms for the Wizengamot to see?"
Hermione smirked in such a way that was uncharacteristic to herself, or at least to anyone that had known her in her Hogwarts years. Hermione Granger had changed over the years, that much was very certain. And as she started to lift her arms, to bare them for the people in the stands around her to see, the chains loosened just enough so that she could life them.
Whispers spread through the stands. Her arms were blank. There was not a hint of ink there, never mind the dark green and black of the Dark Mark. Whilst the members of the Wizengamot were relieved, they were shocked. Why were her arms not checked first, and why was an innocent girl standing trial under such severe accusations, when there were wizards out there that were known to be dark wizards, and yet they continued to live free lives?
Auror Hermione Granger Found Innocent in Trial
The trial of Auror – and best friend to Harry Potter – Hermione Granger took place yesterday, and the woman was found not guilty to charges of espionage, treason, and the accusation of being a follower of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. While she admitted that she had been in contact with a wanted wizard – Severus Snape, to be named, former professor at Hogwart's School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and murderer of Albus Dumbledore – it was not for reasons of dark deeds. Granger claims she merely was curious as to the origins of her relocation. To read more, please look on page 13, title, "Granger".
