Momo sat down, looking over to the boy next to her on the wooden log. The two were sitting in front of a fire. She may have been staring a bit too long, analyzing the way his hair moved in sync with the wind, the way his spiky bangs would cover one eye, which would cover his rinnegan, the way his smirk came into place, and the way his eyes would dart to her. Yeah, he knew she was staring. But she couldn't help it. She was always reminded of the person that she loved deeply.
"You're staring." His voice, stern and dark. The boy sure had a way to talk to a woman older than him.
"I am." Momo chuckles, still looking at him. She could tell he was getting irritated. His brows furrowed, this time he was glaring at her.
"Why?"
Momo smiles, shaking her head and eats her fish that's been roasting over the fire for a good hour.
"You really are Itachi's brother, Sasuke. I was just looking at you.. realizing how much you guys have similarities." She whispers. It still hurts her to talk about Itachi even years later after the war. It's been 2 years since Sasuke and Momo went on their trip to figure out themselves. She still didn't know who she was even without Itachi and Shisui.
Sasuke closes his eyes. Holding his smirk there a little longer until the silence between them started to kill him. He knew how much Momo loved Itachi. He also knew a bit about Momo being in love with Shisui at one point when he was little. Perhaps he felt a bit of sympathy for the older woman next to him. The two people she loved were gone and all she had left was him.
"Momo-"
"I get it. It's been two years. I'm better now- r-really I am, Sasuke." She stuttered, shutting her eyes. Damn, even when it was just Itachi, Shisui, and her, she could never control her emotions. A tear strolls down her face, she quickly wipes it away.
Sasuke's eyes widen, he looks at her, not knowing what to do in this situation. He knew she wasn't okay. But how would he go about this situation?
"Do you miss them?" He asks. Truth be told, he didn't know what to say, but he didn't care to hear her spill out her feelings. He did care about her, in fact, he was starting to see her as his family. It eventually took a lot of realization over the years that she was family to him.
"Yes.." Momo sighs. She felt as if the loneliness in her heart was taking over her entire soul. She hesitates to say another word, but Sasuke looks at her, reassuring her it's okay.
"I.. miss them.. so much. But now, I have you.. and I'm scared that you'll leave too.. I can't lose all three of you." She mumbles, running her fingers through her soft strawberry blonde hair.
"You won't lose me. I'm not going down that easy. You can relax." He says, calmly.
She looks at the younger boy, smiling softly. She pulls him into a hug, much to his stiff dismay.
"Thank you, Sasuke."
"Get off of me."
