Summary: "I could've given you a lifetime of happiness.." Fanart-inspired story. Oneshot.
A/N: Because I CAN NO LONGER CONTAIN THESE OVERWHELMING FEELS.
This story is inspired by a fanart of Kousei and Kaori together, in wedding attires (I don't know the source I am very sorry T-T). I have so much love for angst and feels that I got an idea. The plot was inspired by a ShinAya (Kagerou Project/MCA) fanart by Ms. Rochi (rochi-chan in tumblr) about weddings. I therefore do not claim any credit for your respective works. Thank you so much for inspiring me. :)
Without further ado, let the oneshot unfold.
Silk Roses
When I came to, I was standing in front of sakura trees. Petals were swaying with the wind in an elegant dance. My long blonde hair was swaying in the wind as well, adorned by a translucent white veil.
"I'm finally a bride..", I blurted out.
It was true. I was wearing a long white gown reaching to the ground. It flared out from my hips, as a result of a petticoat I was wearing underneath. The dress was unstrapped, and white flowers adorned the chest area. It was simple, but it looked elegant with my hair and skin complexion.
I am set up into a bride's dress and everything.. but where are the wedding flowers? And who is the groom?
Just then, someone ran past through me. A familiar figure. One with dark blue hair and thick black-rimmed glasses. Wearing a black suit with a blue tie. Carrying what seemed like a bouquet.
Kousei Arima.
I smiled. "Geez, I was looking for th-"
I froze when I saw what was behind me.
"Hey, Kaori.", he began as he knelt down. "I'm sorry I'm late. I just came from Takeshi-kun and Emi-chan's wedding today.", he apologizes as he touched the cemented grave in front of him.
I'm.. dead.
"These are silk roses.", he smiled sadly. "Typical wedding flowers. They remind me of you. Your hair."
My hands went its way up to my mouth.
He looked so mature. His face was more defined, and from the baby face he had when we were thirteen, he became more of a man.
"It's been ten years, Kaori."
It has been so long. It surprises me you were still visiting my grave.
Tears escaped his eyes. "You know.. I really wish I could've married you.. I could've given you a lifetime of happiness, Kaori, if only.."
Tears started to flow from my eyes.
You don't know how much I wanted to be by your side and give you happiness.
"If only you hadn't left me behind..", his voice cracks.
You don't know how much I regretted ever leaving you behind.
"If only you were here right now.."
You don't know how much I wished for you to see me and hold me in your arms.
When I looked back to the sakura trees, I saw a figure hiding behind one. A female's figure.
Short curly hair. Chocolate colored eyes. She was wearing a blue dress, a bridesmaid's dress, I assume.
Tsubaki.
She was looking down, tears streaming down her face as she saw Kousei in front of my grave.
My legs gave away and had me sitting down and cry in regret.
"I'm sorry.. I'm really sorry.."
The sakura petals danced in the music of our synchronizing sobs.
A/N: Aaaaa I'm sorry okay! T^T
