The ebony haired mermaid leans with her arms folded on a large rock at the bottom of the aquarium tank she was kept it. Her tail was bright red with hints of blue like her eyes. Since the little exclusive aquarium was closed for the night she sat with her tail exposed. Usually she would sit in a way to make visitors question the validity of the owners claims, or hide all together, but that was becoming harder to do. The owner had cut down on unnecessary plant life to stop her from doing the lader. One could only sit on their tail for so long, but luckily most human's were easily bored. She closed her blue eyes and tried to get some sleep wile she could.

Suddenly she was awoken by a loud sound, and she looked around rapidly unsure of what was happening. She hid behind her rock seeing a shadow stalk toward her tank. She then peeked out from behind her rock, curious as to why the tap of the intruder's shoes had stopped.
"That's a really convincing costume." Came a smooth voice from the side of her tank. The mermaid looked confused, wasn't he just in front of it? How did he get there? On instinct she hid on the other side of her rock not sure what to make of the man, but she still peeked over at him her long black hair making it hard to hide completely.
After a few long moments of staring she swam over to the glass and looked at him. She tried to ask him something but her voice couldn't penetrate the water and glass, his voice barley even reached her. It was clear he couldn't hear her so she pointed up to the surface of the water and started to swim up.
"Hey wait!" She hollered, not to bright for a thief, so she complied swimming back down and looked at him confused. "I can't jump that high, regardless of how I look." The mermaid sighed and rolled her eyes before pointing to her left. He followed her finger and there he saw a metal stair case attached to the back of the tank. With a sheepish grin he walked over to it and up to the top of the tank. Another shake of her head before ascending to the surface again.
Once she broke the surface of the water she actually had to wait for him, but when he got there.
"Who are you?" She was finally able to ask.
"I am world renowned thief and lover of pretty ladys, Lupin the third." He said with a confident smirk. "And you are?" He knelt down on the edge of the landing looking down at the mermaid.
"My name is Carmen."
"Are you the real deal Carmen?" Lupin pressed her for an answer.
"No, he just doesn't let me take this off and go home." She replied clearly being sarcastic and splashed him with her tail. The movement of said tail making it obvious that it was not a set of legs in a costume.

(Should this be continued?)
